Description

Full job description

Maybe you've sat across from a VA examiner yourself, wondering if you explained your condition right. Maybe you've watched a parent, spouse, or buddy from your unit struggle through a denial letter that didn't make sense, and stepped in to help them make sense of it. Or maybe you've never touched a claims form personally, but you've built a career on the same things this work demands: patience, attention to detail, and a genuine drive to help people get what they're owed.

All of those paths lead here. Firsthand experience with the VA disability claims process is a strong plus and not a requirement — what matters most is that you bring real care and follow-through to every conversation.

At VetsForever, we envision a world where veterans thrive, supported by a united community bound by the spirit of service. We're a veteran-owned and veteran-operated, VA-accredited claims advocacy organization helping veterans and their dependents navigate the VA benefits process, guided by the same values that shape military service: Honor, Courage, Commitment, Transparency, and Service.

We're looking for independent contractors — veterans, military family members, and anyone else who shares these values — ready to be that knowledgeable, compassionate advocate every veteran deserves.

About the Role

As a Veterans Claim Advocate, you'll serve as a direct point of contact for veterans and their dependents, guiding them through the VA benefits claims process from intake to submission. This is a fully remote, independent contractor (1099) opportunity that rewards initiative, organization, and genuine care for the people you serve.

This is not a cold-calling role. Every client comes to us seeking help — your focus is entirely on serving them, not sourcing them. This role does not involve legal representation.

Full compensation details are provided during the interview process.

Compensation Structure

VetsForever pays contractors per submission, with rates that rise as your monthly volume grows — every submission is paid from day one:

  • 1–19 submissions/month: $70 per submission — early ramp
  • 20–29 submissions/month: $72 per submission — building volume
  • 30–39 submissions/month: $75 per submission — near target
  • 40–49 submissions/month: $78 per submission — production target (a 40-submission month pays $3,120)
  • 50+ submissions/month: $80 per submission — high producer, uncapped

The rate that applies to a given month is the rate of the highest band you reach, and it applies to all of that month's submissions.

  • Backpay commission: 1% of backpay generated across all submissions
  • Protected Training Incentive: Up to $600 total — $300 upon completing training and filing your first submission, plus $300 in your first month reaching 40 submissions

There is no ceiling on what you can earn — the more submissions you complete, the more you make per submission.

Production Expectations

VetsForever's production target is 40 submissions per month. As an independent contractor, you control how you organize your time and workflow to reach that target and beyond. Training start dates and ramp-up periods are factored in as you build toward full volume. Contractors who consistently fall well short of the target may have their engagement ended — not the outcome we want, but one that protects the standard of service every veteran deserves.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct intake calls with veterans and their dependents to assess needs and evaluate eligibility for VA benefits and programs
  • Prepare and submit initial VA benefit claims on behalf of clients
  • Manage ongoing client communications via phone, email, and text throughout the claims process
  • Review and organize supporting documentation required for claim submissions
  • Maintain accurate, detailed case notes and records in the CRM
  • Upload all required documentation to client files in a timely, organized manner
  • Ensure full compliance with Privacy Act requirements for all client and personnel files
  • Stay current on VA regulations and benefit program updates
  • Participate in veteran community outreach events as opportunities arise
  • Additional services may be requested consistent with the scope of this engagement

What We're Looking For

  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • A home office setup with a computer or laptop, a functioning camera and microphone, and high-speed internet
  • Willingness to appear on screen for video calls with clients and team members
  • A high level of initiative and self-direction — you'll be managing your own caseload and schedule
  • Empathy and a genuine understanding of the challenges that come with military life, for veterans and their families alike
  • The ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with veterans and their families
  • Sound judgment and the ability to stay steady under stressful conditions
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • The ability to research and problem-solve independently

Preferred (not required):

  • Associate degree or higher
  • U.S. military veteran, or significant prior experience supporting veterans or military families
  • Personal or close secondhand familiarity with the VA claims process
  • Proficiency with CRM or case management software

  • Coordinates with the Veteran Services team under VetsForever's VA-accredited representatives
  • Guided throughout by Honor, Courage, Commitment, Transparency, and Service

If you're passionate about serving those who served — whether that passion comes from your own time in uniform, watching someone you love go through this process, or simply caring deeply about getting it right — we want to hear from you.
