Roles and Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for conducting synthesis, evaluation and quality control of polymers and small organic molecules following instruction from the Senior Chemists. Quantitative and qualitative analysis of synthesized polymer resin to ensure a consistent, reproducible, and reliable polymer material. Able to accomplish assigned tasks with little or no supervision. Ability to effectively communicate and write reports on data and other observations of the project to their managers. A safe work environment is critical to the employees at our site, the candidate will be expected to continually work in a safe manner.


Manufacturing:

Synthesize and purify polymers and small organic molecules.

Evaluate and document the properties of batches and make any needed adjustments as instructed.

Maintain laboratory equipment and glassware.

Carry out ion exchange of polymer resins.

Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility.

Any other duties requested by the supervisors.


Purchasing

Determine upcoming chemical needs.

Maintain inventory of the chemicals in the laboratory.

Ensure constant supply of the chemicals used in the laboratory.


Environmental Reporting

Collecting waste of all streams and transporting them to the collection and processing points.

Maintain SDS log for all chemicals.

Review SDS for compliance with permits.


Quality Control

Prepare certificate of analysis and certificate of conformance.

Maintain batch tracking.

Write Standard Operating Procedures.


Requirements:

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemistry/chemical engineering.

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a chemical pilot or production environment.

Quality control / quality assurance experience is a plus.

Experience with analytical equipment such as IR, HPLC, GPC, TITRATION IS A PLUS.

Must be legally authorized to work in United States.

Experience in working with hazardous materials (e.g., strong acids, hazardous chemicals).

Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is required.
