About Ventaris Surgical
Ventaris Surgical is a venture-backed medical device company founded in 2024 and headquartered in San Carlos, California. Backed by leading MedTech investors following a $30 million Series A financing, we are developing a next-generation ureteroscopic system designed to help surgeons achieve more complete kidney stone clearance in a single procedure while reducing the physical and cognitive burden of treatment.
Kidney stone disease is one of the world's most common urologic conditions. Nearly 1 in 10 people will experience a kidney stone in their lifetime, and more than 500,000 people undergo kidney stone surgery in the U.S. each year. Yet today's tools make it difficult for surgeons to consistently achieve complete stone clearance. Our vision is simple: every patient stone-free through a single procedure.
About the Role
Ventaris Surgical is seeking an experienced Senior Assembler to build prototype and clinical units of our next-generation ureteroscopic system. This is a temporary position with the opportunity to convert to full-time employment based on performance and business needs. Working side by side with our engineering team in San Carlos, you will perform precision assembly of small, delicate components, help refine our processes and work instructions, and play a key role in producing the devices that will be used in our early clinical studies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform precision assembly of flexible endoscopic and catheter-based components under a microscope, including adhesive bonding, UV curing, soldering, and fine wire handling
- Build prototype, design verification, and clinical units according to work instructions, drawings, and engineering direction
- Complete device history records and other production documentation accurately and in real time, following Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
- Perform in-process inspections and functional tests, and identify and escalate nonconformances
- Provide hands-on feedback to engineers to improve processes, fixtures, and work instructions, and help pilot new assembly methods
- Train and mentor other assemblers on assembly techniques and procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow cleanroom, safety, and ESD procedures
- Support material kitting, inventory, and equipment upkeep as needed
Requirements
- 5+ years of medical device assembly experience in an FDA-regulated or ISO 13485 environment
- Demonstrated skill in microscope-based micro-assembly, with excellent fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
- Experience with adhesives and UV curing, soldering, hand tools, and precision measurement equipment such as calipers and pin gauges
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, assembly drawings, and procedures
- Working knowledge of GDP and experience completing device history records
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to sustain focus on precise, repetitive work
- Ability to sit for extended periods working under magnification and to work in a gowned cleanroom environment
- Ability to work on-site in San Carlos, CA
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building catheters, endoscopes, or other minimally invasive devices
- Experience with catheter processes such as thermal reflow, tipping, braiding, or laser welding
- Experience in an early-stage, R&D, or pilot manufacturing environment, including prototype and clinical builds
- IPC J-STD-001 soldering certification
- Experience with optics, camera modules, or fine-gauge electrical wiring
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and ERP or eQMS systems
