Velocity Dance Center is hiring for the 2025 season! Do you love working with kids? Do you want to make a difference? Velocity Dance Center is seeking a positive and experienced individual for the role of Dance Teacher at our Oklahoma City location.


Velocity Dance Center has been serving families in the Oklahoma City area for 18 seasons. Our mission is to "Grow Great Kids Through Dance." Our classes are taught by skilled teachers in positive classrooms, and we pride ourselves on age-appropriate movement concepts, costuming and music. Our students go beyond technique to learn important life skills and incorporate VDC values – family first, leadership training, education, professionalism, and community – in all that we do.


As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to teach a variety of dance styles, work with a supportive and collaborative team, and make a positive impact on the lives of our students. We are looking for someone who has experience teaching dance to children of all ages, is creative and flexible in their teaching styles, and has an enthusiastic, disciplined, and warm approach to students.


The ideal candidate will be able to teach from a curriculum and also create and manage their own progressive class plans. You must have excellent organizational and self-management skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.


The ideal candidate can teach hip hop, ballet, jazz, and pom to beginners ages 3 - 16 AND can teach intermediate to advanced dancers ages 8 - 18 in at least 2 of the following styles: hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, modern, musical theater, ballet, leaps and turns, or stretch and flexibility. For the right candidate, there is also an opportunity to choreograph and work with competitive dancers.


In addition to teaching, there is an opportunity to expand your role into a department head position for ballet, jazz, or tap for the right candidate. Our department heads will work with members of their department to keep every class fun and engaging and create new ideas for each classroom. The department heads will also help the Director of Classroom operations with class observations and team training.



Ideal Availability:

  • Monday - Thursday: 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
  • Friday: 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
  • Saturday: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Class times and styles vary from night to night. The ideal candidate is available to work multiple days a week and every Saturday.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Weekly student touchpoints
  • Calling and texting trial class parents
  • Daily cleaning of your classroom
  • Attend quarterly staff meetings, VDC Community Events, and all recital and performance rehearsals and events as scheduled. These events are paid for with additional admin hours.
  • Prepare engaging classes each week.
  • Prepare dancers for 2 successful recitals, including selecting music and choreography.

What to expect when applying:

  • This position will begin on July 26th, 2025 (Required Staff Meeting).
  • Applications are accepted through May 15th.
  • Applicants will have a 10-minute interview with the Director of Operations.
  • Team interviews will be scheduled for Friday, May 16, between 4 and 6 pm.
  • Teaching interviews will be scheduled for the week of May 28 - May 31.
  • Offer letters will be sent out by no later than June 21.

Salary

$20 - $30 per hour
