Vela Wood is a boutique Texas law firm with a local feel and a global impact. Recently, due to a growth in client work, we have launched a new litigation and bankruptcy practice and are looking to add an experienced Litigation Attorney to our team. We have historically focused our practice in the areas of Venture Transactions, M&A, Gaming Law, Private Equity, and Fund Representation.
The Litigation Attorney can be based in either our Austin or Dallas office. This opportunity is a great match for attorneys with at least 4 years of experience in litigation and general disputes, but ideally the candidate will have 6 or more years of experience.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Prepare for and participate in all aspects of the litigation process, including discovery, depositions, hearings, and trials.
- Provide strategic advice and counsel to clients on litigation and risk management issues.
- Collaborate with colleagues and clients to develop creative and effective legal strategies.
- Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
- Help manage a robust caseload of litigation and dispute resolution matters, including but not limited to commercial disputes, contract disputes, employment disputes, and regulatory matters.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the bar in Texas.
- Approximately 4-8 years of experience practicing litigation/dispute resolution law, preferably in a law firm setting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Advanced legal research and writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, hands-on team in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering high-quality legal services and achieving favorable outcomes for clients.
