This role is responsible for leading crews, managing project execution on-site, ensuring safety and quality standards, and serving as the primary technical resource for clients and internal teams. Description
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise field technicians on electrical testing, maintenance, and commissioning projects (low, medium, and high voltage systems).
- Plan, coordinate, and execute projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and within scope.
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for clients, providing updates and technical guidance.
- Perform advanced testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics on electrical equipment including:
- Switchgear and circuit breakers
- Power transformers
- Protection and control systems (relays)
- Cables and rotating equipment
- Interpret drawings, schematics, and specifications to guide field work.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable standards (NETA, IEEE, ANSI, OSHA, NFPA 70E, etc.).
- Review and approve field reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission.
- Mentor and develop junior technicians, promoting technical growth and safe work practices.
- Coordinate logistics, materials, and equipment required for project execution.
- Identify and communicate opportunities for additional work or scope changes.
Qualifications & Requirements
- NETA Level III or IV Certification (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 7+ years of hands-on field experience in electrical testing, maintenance, and commissioning.
- Demonstrated experience leading crews and running projects independently.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical power systems (480V through EHV).
- Proficiency in testing methods such as:
- Insulation resistance, power factor, and Doble testing
- Transformer testing (TTR, winding resistance, etc.)
- Relay testing (electromechanical and microprocessor-based)
- Cable testing (VLF, Tan Delta, HiPot)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documents.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to safety and quality in all aspects of work.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as required.
