As a Field Service Technician, you’ll work alongside experienced team members to help inspect, test, and maintain electrical equipment at client sites. This is a hands-on, field-based role where you’ll learn by doing and build your skills.
Your day-to-day work will include:
- Assisting with inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and data collection on electrical systems ranging from low voltage up to high voltage equipment (480V–600kV).
- Performing a variety of electrical tests on equipment such as transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, protective relays, cables, and control systems (with training provided).
- Helping identify issues in the field and supporting senior technicians in developing repair or upgrade recommendations.
- Recording test results and helping prepare clear, accurate reports that document what was tested and what was found.
- Following all safety procedures and company standards while working around energized equipment.
- Traveling to job sites as needed. Most travel is planned, but you may be asked to support urgent or on-call work.
- Using hand tools, test equipment, and lifting or moving tools and materials (up to 50 lbs.) as part of regular field work.

You’ll be a good fit if you have:
- A diploma, certificate, or associate’s degree in electrical engineering technology or a related technical program. An Electrical Engineering degree is an asset but not required.
- Some hands-on experience through school labs, co-op, internships, or entry-level work in electrical or industrial environments.
- An interest in electrical testing, commissioning, and maintenance work.
- Basic familiarity with electrical equipment such as transformers, breakers, relays, and cables (advanced testing skills will be developed on the job).
- Willingness to work toward or obtain NETA certification (support provided).
- The ability to read, write, and speak English clearly to ensure safe and effective communication.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a company vehicle under standard fleet requirements.
