The Estimator plays a critical role in securing new work by preparing accurate, competitive, and well-structured cost estimates for electrical testing, commissioning, protection & control, and related engineering services. This role works closely with operations, engineering, and leadership to ensure proposals reflect realistic labor hours, equipment needs, risk considerations, and client expectations

Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Review RFPs, RFQs, drawings, specifications, and bid documents
  • Develop detailed cost estimates for:
  • Electrical acceptance and maintenance testing
  • Commissioning services
  • Protection & control projects
  • Engineering and field service labor
  • Quantify labor hours, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and travel expenses
  • Coordinate with operations and technical teams to validate scope and execution approach
  • Identify risks, assumptions, and exclusions within estimates
  • Prepare professional proposals and bid packages
  • Participate in client pre-bid meetings and scope clarification discussions
  • Maintain estimating databases and historical cost records
  • Support project handoff to operations once awarded


Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of estimating experience in electrical services, power systems, industrial construction, or related field
  • Strong understanding of medium- and high-voltage electrical systems
  • Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, specifications, and technical documents
  • Proficiency in Excel and estimating software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred:

  • Experience estimating for utilities, industrial facilities, renewables, or data centers
  • Field experience in electrical testing or commissioning
  • Knowledge of NETA standards or protection & control systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
