OVERVIEW

As a Host at The Urban Cowboy Downtown Bar, you’ll be the first point of contact for our guests, setting the tone for their entire experience. Your role includes greeting guests warmly, managing reservations and walk-ins, coordinating table seating efficiently, and maintaining clear communication with the service team. We’re looking for individuals with strong organizational skills, a friendly and professional demeanor, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

SALARY + HOURS EXPECTATIONS

• $18 an Hour + Tips
• 30-40 hours weekly
• Weekday and weekend availability required 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Welcome guests with a warm smile and a friendly demeanor.
• Manage take out orders and to-go orders.
• Briefly explain our service model to new and returning guests
• Check IDs; be able to differentiate between valid ID vs invalid ID
• Ensure guests have a seamless and enjoyable experience from the moment they walk in.
• Be the first point of contact, setting the tone.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Carry out all tasks with an attention to detail, cleanliness, and safety while maintaining an enjoyable and clean environment for guests and team.
• Ability to multitask (ie converse with guests while making drinks)
• Work efficiently and maintain a reasonable pace of service at all times.
• Engage with all guests in a timely, professional and friendly manner.
• Work to uphold and enforce all necessary  legal statutes at all times.
• Serve safely and appropriately any alcohol by monitoring intake and communicating with staff and management when there are issues or needs.
• Fill in for absent staff as needed, assist with special events as needed.
• Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
• Ability to honor your schedule, show up on time and clock in and out, put in requests for time off with appropriate notice.
• Ability to fluently work the POS system, as well as responsibly and accurately handle cash payments.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal communication skills in English, as well as nonverbal communications in a fast paced environment. 
• Ability to work independently and efficiently with attention to detail.
• Previous host experience in a fast paced environment. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to handle physical workload, including bending, stooping, and lifting for up to 75% of your scheduled shift.
• Ability to stand for 100% of your scheduled shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, maneuver in narrow hallways, up and down small stairways and behind the bar. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Physically strenuous, standing, lifting, kneeling, stooping, walking and stair climbing throughout the entire shift. 
• Loud environment with low lighting in some areas and bright lights in others. 
• No driving required.
