The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Independently designing and prototyping parts and simple assemblies based on given requirements.
- Conducting experiments to evaluate prototypes, products and processes under supervision.
- Working within the engineering team to collaboratively develop, prototype, and evaluate novel device designs.
- Accurately recording and maintaining experimental data.
- Analyzing experimental data and reporting on findings.
- Documenting design, assembly and process changes in an organized and timely manner.
- Fabricating and assembling benchtop systems and subsystems.
- Maintaining inventory of critical prototype and equipment components.
- Performing routine maintenance on equipment.
- Under supervision, building and maintaining production processes and related quality systems.
- Other routine laboratory experimental, data collection and manufacturing related tasks.
Requirements for this position include:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or related fields with 2+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Proficient in building 3D models and assemblies and creating 2D machine drawings (Fusion 360 experience preferred).
- Experience developing and testing functional prototypes.
- Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering, physics and mathematics concepts.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Experience with word processing software and data analysis software.
The following education & experience is preferred:
- Experience reading electrical schematics and PCB layouts.
- Experience with Arduino and PLC programming.
- Previous wet lab experience.
- Basic knowledge of production techniques for plastics, metals, and other common materials.
- Basic understanding of vacuum systems, surface physics and thermodynamics.
- Must work well in a team environment and foster collaboration.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment.
