The United States Parkour Association (USPK) is the National Governing Body for Parkour, Freerunning, and L’Art du Deplacement in the U.S. Founded in 2018 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, USPK is dedicated to advancing parkour through events, education, and outreach. We are a community-driven organization formed by parkour practitioners, athletes, business owners, parents, and enthusiasts, committed to growing and protecting the discipline. Social Media Manager
Position Overview
As the Social Media Manager, you will lead USPK's digital voice, ensuring our community remains informed, inspired, and engaged. You will be responsible for creating "inviting, engaging, and timely" content across our primary digital channels. Your focus will be split across three major areas:
- 70% Content Strategy & Platform Management (Calendar creation, posting, and engagement),
- 20% Event & Project Collaboration (Working with the Event Manager on competitions and sponsorships),
- 10% Community Moderation & Reporting (Discord management and board updates).
You’ll work closely with the Event Manager, the USPK Board of Directors, and regional coordinators to ensure our digital presence reflects our mission and serves the national parkour community.
Key Responsibilities by Focus Area
70% – Content Strategy & Platform Management
- Platform Ownership: Lead the daily presence (resharing, comment monitoring, messages) of USPK on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Discord, YouTube, and the content management platform, ensuring a consistent "inviting, engaging, and timely" voice.
- Reserve brand names for platforms we don’t have
- Campaign Development: Create and execute digital campaigns for major organizational pillars, including National Competitions, Fundraising, and Membership Drives.
- Asset Creation: Design high-quality graphics and edit short-form video content (Reels, TikToks, Shorts) that highlight athletes, gyms, and community stories.
- Content Calendar: Maintain a master content calendar that ensures a steady stream of updates, education, and inspiration for the national community.
20% – Event & Project Collaboration
- Event Marketing: Work directly with the Event Manager to turn competition logistics into promotional content that drives registrations and athlete engagement.
- Fiscal Sponsorship Support: Create visibility for USPK’s fiscally sponsored programs (e.g., WPKM, Obsidian Gathering) by sharing their updates, registration links, and highlights.
- On-Site/Remote Coverage: Coordinate the collection of "live" content during major USPK-sanctioned events to keep the digital community connected to the action in real-time.
10% – Community Moderation & Board Reporting
- Digital Moderation: Monitor comments and moderate the USPK Discord server to ensure all interactions align with our core values of Transparency, Inclusion, and Accountability.
- Analytics & Growth: Track monthly engagement metrics (reach, growth, and conversion) and provide brief summary reports for Board of Directors meetings.
- Stakeholder Communication: Ensure major organizational updates (Board decisions, partner announcements) are accurately and promptly reflected on all social profiles.
Required Qualifications
- Strong communication skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication, with the ability to adapt USPK’s "voice" to be inviting and professional.
- Platform Mastery: Advanced proficiency with Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Discord, and TikTok, including understanding of algorithms and audience behaviors.
- Content Creation: Proficiency with Canva (or similar design tools) and experience with short-form video editing (Reels, TikTok).
- Organizational Skills: Experience managing a complex content calendar and meeting strict deadlines.
- Self-starter: Ability to manage multiple creative tasks independently and take initiative on new campaigns.
- Community Moderation: Experience managing online forums or Discord servers with a focus on inclusivity and safety.
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with parkour competitions, community events, and gyms (or willing to engage and learn)
- Experience supporting fiscally sponsored events or nonprofit programming.
- Knowledge, passion, AND alignment of USPK’s mission
- Comfort working with volunteers, coaches, and a variety of stakeholders.
- Interest in growing with the role over time.
Pay & Benefits
- Pay: $17.50 per hour
- Hours: 20 hours per week.
- Employee must be available to attend board & committee meetings on Thursdays between 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM PT. Other hours are flexible.
- Sick Leave: Employees accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, in alignment with the highest applicable state and local laws across the U.S.
- Remote Work: This is a 100% remote position.
- Eligibility: Employee must be eligible to work in the United States.
