Role Summary

The Production & Media Coordinator exists to ensure technical reliability and excellence across Union City Church’s audio, video, and lighting (AVL) operations and produce compelling stories through digital media. This role is a technical, creative, and forward-thinking specialist responsible for overseeing and ensuring excellence in the church's AVL operations, while also supporting the production of compelling digital media and video content. This position combines technical expertise in live AVL production, filming, recording, and post-production editing with the strategic ability to recruit, train, and oversee high-performing teams. The ideal candidate possesses professional proficiency in audio, video, and lighting production and a passion for digital evangelism and storytelling – effectively turning ministry visions into compelling content that engages members, seekers, and donors across YouTube, podcast platforms, social media, and beyond.


AVL production and technical proficiency is the primary focus, as this role will own the health and excellence of the church's live audio, video, lighting, presentation, and recording systems. The Production & Media Coordinator is accountable for seamless AVL production execution during all Sunday services and church events, whether they are directly operating a console or overseeing other operators. Additionally, this individual must bring hands-on technical proficiency to optimally operate soundboards and all of the church’s other AVL equipment.


Key Responsibilities

  • AVL Production: Ensure technical excellence of live audio, video, and lighting (AVL) operations for all Sunday services and church events. Ensure all systems are properly maintained and operated at a high professional standard.
  • Volunteer Training, Oversight & Care: Recruit, train, and oversee the AVL production team, with management support whenever needed. Ensure the team is appropriately staffed and scheduled for all Sunday services and church events and that the team receives coaching, encouragement, feedback, and spiritual investment and care.
  • Video & Media Support: Support the church’s digital presence and storytelling through the production of video and digital media content assigned by management and the communications team. Assist with recording, filming, post-production editing, and distribution.
  • Financial Coordination & Asset Management: Oversee the tracking, organization, and maintenance of all technical equipment and operational supplies within allocated departmental budgets. Track production expenses, maintain equipment and inventory records, coordinate approved purchases, and recommend repairs, replacements, and upgrades to management.

  • AVL Excellence: Ensure technical excellence in audio, video, lighting, presentation, and recording systems across all Sunday services and church events – maintaining high professional quality in all areas.
  • Volunteer Care & Oversight: Train and cultivate a healthy, skilled, and unified AVL production team – fostering a culture of spiritual care, technical growth, and consistent service excellence.
  • Video & Media Creation: Produce high quality video and digital media content, as assigned by management and the communications team, and publish and distribute it across the appropriate platforms and/or teams.
  • Administrative & Operational Execution: Track production expenses, maintain equipment and inventory records, and coordinate purchases for all technical equipment and operational supplies. Maintain departmental organization standards and recommend repairs, replacements, or upgrades to management.


Required Qualifications

  • Alignment: Strong alignment with the Union City Church’s theology, vision, culture, and values – with a ministry-minded approach to technical excellence.
  • AVL Fluency: Proficient operating and troubleshooting professional AVL systems – with the ability to mix live music and spoken-word environments. Specifically, skilled in operating audio, video, lighting, presentation, recording, cabling, monitors, and other related production systems with excellence.
  • Video Production Competence: Proven abilities with filming and editing.
  • Execution & Problem-Solving: Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, effective problem-solving skills, and consistent follow-through.
  • Composure: Skilled in diagnosing problems, making accurate decisions, and communicating clearly under live-event pressure.
  • Teamwork & Adaptability: Ability to operate effectively and positively in a collaborative, fast-paced ministry environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Church or live-event production experience.
  • Volunteer recruitment and training experience.
  • Video filming and editing experience.
  • Familiarity with livestreaming, networking, signal routing, system integration, motion graphics, photography, or design.

Benefits and Operational Expectations

  • Workweek: Sunday–Thursday (40 Hours/Week).
  • On-Site Requirements: Tuesday and Thursday (In-Office); Worship Practice (currently Thursday evenings); Sunday services; Church events.
  • Remote Workdays: Monday and Wednesday.
  • Working Hours: The church maintains collaborative working hours for seamless team communication and project alignment. For this role, those hours are:
  • Monday – Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Worship Practice: Thursdays 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (subject to change)
  • Sunday: 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (subject to change)
  • Sunday Ministry Readiness: Staff members are expected to be present and prepared for ministry on Sundays to strengthen church culture and effectively disciple, lead, and minister to our congregation and volunteer teams.
  • Sunday Off Policy: Union City Church Staff may request up to four Sundays off per calendar year. 
  • Remote Infrastructure: Maintain high-performing, reliable high-speed internet/Wi-Fi at their residence to successfully fulfill all remote working responsibilities and video rendering uploads.
  • Travel: This role may require limited travel for things such as conferences, professional development, digital storytelling, and off-site media production.
