Pool Technician – Morning Operations

Umvelt is a design-driven European-style bathhouse in downtown Bozeman. We operate warm and cold plunge pools, sauna, steam, and lounge spaces rooted in ritual, contrast, and care.
Water quality and system integrity are the invisible backbone of the entire experience. This role protects that foundation.
The Role
We are seeking a highly reliable, morning-oriented Pool Technician to ensure our water systems are balanced, clean, compliant, and ready before doors open each day.
This is a 2-hour morning role (3–5 days/week) with a longer shift on Tuesdays for scheduled drain-down and deep cleaning. There is occasional light on-call availability for urgent issues.

Core Responsibilities
Water Quality & Balance
- Perform daily water testing (chlorine, pH, temperature, ORP, combined chlorine)
- Balance water within defined operating ranges
- Maintain accurate, time-stamped chemical logs
- Perform routine backwash procedures
- Daily clean pool tile line, skimmer baskets, strainers, and drains
Drain & Clean (Tuesdays – Extended Shift)
- Execute drain-down and refill procedures safely
- Clean and reset pool basins
- Prepare systems for reopening
Equipment Monitoring
- Inspect pumps, heaters, filters, and chemical systems
- Monitor flow rates and pressure
- Identify and document early signs of wear
- Ensure filtration systems are clean and functioning
Chemical Management & Compliance
- Track and coordinate chemical inventory and delivery
- Maintain updated Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Follow proper PPE and safety protocols at all times
- Support compliance with CPO standards and local regulations
Qualifications
- Highly reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working independently
- Detail-oriented and process-driven
- Physically able to lift 50 lbs
- Comfortable working around water and pool chemicals
- Mechanical aptitude preferred
- Pool or facilities experience a plus (not required)
Training & Certification
For the right candidate, Umvelt will provide paid Certified Pool Operator (CPO) training and formal instruction in pool safety, water chemistry, and chemical handling procedures.
