The Sr. Conference + Account Manager is responsible for the leadership and ownership of client account(s) and full scale management of small to large scale events, including user conferences, sales kickoffs, roadshows, incentives, and other corporate events. This position possesses an expert level understanding of event management, including client management, venue management, production coordination, attendee experience, hotel room blocks, vendor management, and contract negotiation, etc. The Sr. Conference + Account Manager takes the lead from event transition through execution, working closely with internal subject matter experts to guide and mentor through the planning process.

Location: Remote*’ or Hybrid Position for Minneapolis-based candidates

Account Management 

  • Ownership over the entire client account(s), as assigned 
  • Develop and maintain strong client communication and create client success by providing unique and effective solutions
  • Maintain leading-edge knowledge of clients’ culture, processes, structure, business, and industry to service them effectively and responsibly for the overall satisfaction and client(s) retention 
  • Guide the development, writing, and presentation of project proposals, scopes of work, schedules and staffing plans
  • Report on accountability for all aspects of the client account(s)
  • Responsible for account revenue targets and profitability goals
  • Management and communication of account roles and responsible to both to internal and Client teams

Conference Management 

  • Ownership in leading the planning and execution of all assigned events, at any scale
  • Oversee the planning and execution of each team member on large events
  • Daily interface with client on assigned events
  • Conceptualize and lead strategic events, ensuring every aspect of the event is aligned with the client’s overall event objective
  • Serve as team lead and bring leadership and guidance to team members across all workstreams
  • Proactively bring new ideas and improved processes to team to streamline internal team operations and enhance client experience
  • Mentor and guide program team(s) in the hard and soft skills required for the successful execution of events and professional development
  • Oversee and manage event project plan/timeline and drive external and internal deliverables to meet program milestones
  • Drive client and internal team deliverables to meet timeline milestones
  • Lead client and internal meetings, including regular status meetings, pre-program walkthroughs, onsite meetings, and post program debriefs
  • Develop budgets, coordinate itineraries, and lead site inspections
  • Manage all aspects of venue coordination, including meeting space allocation, meeting room set-up, diagrams, food & beverage, electrical, internet.
  • Manage event budget, invoicing, schedules of payments; in conjunction with internal Type A finance team 
  • Oversee overall program agenda, ensuring communication across all internal and external teams
  • Manage outside vendors, including audio visual, production, entertainment, IT/internet, photographer, printer, security, shipping, translation, transportation, etc as required
  • Coordinate content, graphic development and production of all program collateral (i.e. agenda, conference guide, program of events, etc.) and signage
  • Manage client VIPs including VIP grid & photo cheat-sheet, room amenities & transportation
  • Review and contract onsite travel staff; in conjunction with Type A Leadership
  • Coordinate shipping procedures and arrangements pre and post program
  • Transition program information and walk through all program specifications with onsite team
  • Oversee on-site program operations alongside Type A Event Operations team 
  • Manage final billing and closeout presentation to client; in conjunction with Type A Leadership and Finance teams 

Required Travel : This position requires travel up to 30%

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a candidate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Individuals will be required to sit for the majority of the day and will be required to stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required.  Individuals will be required to travel via airplane, train, taxi, car and/or other means of transportation as needed.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree.
  2. Minimum 5+ years of Corporate event management.
  3. Focus and experience in an agency or corporate environment is a plus.
  4. Expert level understanding of event management scope and ability to lead the planning process.
  5. Minimum of 3-4 years of direct client management.
  6. Exceptional negotiation and budget management skills.
  7. Proven track record of effectively managing multi-million dollar budgets
