Description

Objective

A Graphic Specialist manages the process of creating and producing visual materials, ensuring that final products align with design specifications and deadlines. This role often involves coordinating with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders to oversee the entire production process. Key responsibilities include file management, proofing, managing timelines, budgets, and quality control for various projects. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT A GRAPHIC DESIGN ROLE.

 

Responsibilities

Perform “preflight” check for required fonts, colors, sizing, resolution and other needed components to ensure completeness prior to submitting to printer.

Color “correct” and make similar recommendations/adjustments to print files per project requirements.

Offer graphic design ideas solutions and alternatives based on customer input and production requirements.

Build proof images to illustrate how the files will print and for the client to proof for errors and potential print problems.

Convert and prepare files received in various digital formats to different outputs for print production.

Negotiate with print vendors and manage relationships to ensure cost-effective and timely production.

Track budgets against expenses, analyze budget performance, identify cost-saving opportunities and process invoices.

Communicate and coordinate job details with account and project management teams.

Identify and resolve issues that arise during production to maintain project timelines and quality.

Handle multiple projects simultaneously, adhere to deadlines, and maintain organized project files.

Manage job timelines and deadlines by actively seeking needed art files and substrate information

Organize, track, and document all production items to assure a job or task has been finished completely.

 

Skills and Qualifications

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Solid work ethic with a positive attitude.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Able to work on multiple tasks/assignments concurrently.

Ability to adapt to changing priorities, multi-task and meet deadlines.

Self-Starter with the willingness to take initiative.

Work varying hours and days to oversee projection completion.


Experience

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in prepress, graphic project management and/or graphic production.

Tradeshow experience a plus.
