Job Summary
The Pipe Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating field crews engaged in the installation of underground utilities, including storm drain, sanitary sewer, and water systems. This role ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project plans, specifications, and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead pipe crews performing underground utility installation
- Plan daily work activities and coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials
- Read and interpret plans, specifications, and grades
- Ensure pipe is installed to proper line, grade, and alignment
- Coordinate with surveyors, inspectors, and other trades on site
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations
- Conduct daily safety briefings and job hazard analyses
- Monitor productivity and quality of work
- Communicate progress, issues, and material needs to the Superintendent
- Train and mentor crew members to improve skills and performance
- Ensure proper care and use of tools, equipment, and machinery
- Assist with troubleshooting field issues and resolving conflicts
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in underground utility construction
- Prior experience as a Pipe Foreman or Leadman preferred
- Strong knowledge of storm drain, sewer, and water systems
- Ability to read construction drawings and grades
- Working knowledge of trench safety and shoring systems
- Valid driver’s license
- OSHA 10 required (OSHA 30 preferred)
