Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Engineering as we transition towards productizing our data services. In this role, you will be responsible for defining and overseeing the architecture of our services, driving innovation, and ensuring the scalability and robustness of our solutions. You will wear many hats—balancing hands-on development with leadership responsibilities and the future opportunity to grow your own team. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Architectural Leadership: Design and oversee the architecture of our data services, ensuring they meet current and future needs as we productize our offerings. Implement scalable and efficient solutions that align with our business objectives.
• Full Stack Development: Individual contributor developing and optimizing both front-end and back-end components of our systems. Ensure the integration of various technology stacks and platforms.
• Team Management: row and lead a high-performing engineering team. Foster a collaborative and innovative environment while managing individual contributors and providing guidance on technical and career development.
• Quality Assurance: Implement and uphold best practices for software development, testing, and deployment. Ensure that our data services are reliable, secure, and performant.
• Innovation and Problem Solving: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies. Identify opportunities for innovation and apply creative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, product managers, and operations to ensure alignment and successful execution of our data services strategy.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in software engineering with a strong background in full-stack development. Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing technical projects.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Scala, Python, JavaScript, Java) and frameworks. Solid understanding of front-end technologies (React, Angular, etc.) and back-end technologies (Node.js, Spring Boot, etc.). Experience with data systems, APIs, and cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is essential. Expertise in Scala is a plus. 
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, manage technical projects from conception to completion, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to tackling challenges and optimizing processes.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
