The Senior Accounting Associate is responsible for providing high-quality customer support alongside a wide range of bookkeeping, payroll, and finance services to a set of assigned clients on an ongoing basis. This role will also be responsible for assisting the Managing Director in reviewing the bookkeeping work of other team members in an effort to maintain the highest quality of service.

What does this role entail?

We are seeking a Senior Accounting Associate to join our team of accounting professionals. The Senior Accounting Associate is responsible for providing high-quality customer support alongside a wide range of bookkeeping, payroll, and finance services to a set of assigned clients on an ongoing basis. This role will also be responsible for assisting the Managing Director in reviewing the bookkeeping work of other team members in an effort to maintain the highest quality of service.


Things you’ll do a lot of:

  • Mentoring and reviewing work products of other accounting team members within the company.
  • Managing the ongoing bookkeeping, payroll, and reporting activities of an assigned set of clients.
  • Managing project timelines and work tasks related to bookkeeping client onboarding and offboarding projects, bookkeeping cleanup projects, and finance toolset integration projects.
  • Analyzing client financial data and creating well-crafted financial presentations for management, stakeholders, and external parties, such as vendors or lenders.
  • Preparing and providing timely financial reports and statements, including Income Statements, Balance Sheets, A/R or A/P Aging Reports, and Client Statements.
  • Maintaining compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Recording transactions and performing account reconciliations on various types of accounts including bank accounts, liability accounts, A/R, A/P, and Prepaid accounts.
  • Working with a multitude of cloud-based applications, including QuickBooks, Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Jirav, Gusto, ADP, and Karbon.
  • Working as part of a team to provide top-notch customer service and handle sensitive or confidential information with the greatest levels of honesty and integrity.
  • Complying with federal, state, and local legal regulations and requirements and keeping informed about the latest developments in the finance industry.
  • Maintaining electronic records and filing systems.
  • Evaluating, developing, and improving client controls, systems, and procedures that increase accuracy and efficiency and ensuring that all accounting processes align with GAAP and applicable  financial regulations.
  • Maintaining accurate and complete financial records and participating in audits or reconciliations, as needed.
  • Completing additional tasks or projects as assigned or required.

To be a strong candidate for this position, some of your qualifications might include:

  • Degree in Accounting, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably in an outsourced or shared services environment.
  • 5+ years QuickBooks experience, preferably QBO.
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting requirements.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple clients and competing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy to maintain quality across clients.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with clients and team members.
  • Strong aptitude for technology and software, specifically around QBO integrations.
  • High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility.
  • Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and adapt to new priorities quickly.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in an independent environment.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role is a plus.
