Position Overview

The Head of Medical Affairs will establish and lead the Company’s Medical Affairs function, serving as both a clinical authority and a strategic leader for scientific information exchange, clinical evidence generation, and field medical engagement, ensuring the Company’s products and services are supported by robust data, trusted by healthcare providers, and aligned with the highest ethical and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support & Provider Engagement (Player Role)

  • Conduct provider report review calls in support of the Company’s products (at least 20 hrs/week).
  • Educate HCPs and other stakeholders on report interpretation best practices within the broader clinical picture (labs, genetics, functional medicine data).
  • Provide consultative clinical support for healthcare providers, clinical partners, and institutional collaborations, ensuring all commercial partners are well-versed and trained on the Company’s science, data output, and report interpretation.
  • Represent the Company as a thought leader at conferences, scientific meetings, and provider forums
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in key strategic areas for the Company. 
  • Support Institutional Research Collaborations (IRC) and Clinical Partnership Sales (CPS) through medical education and insight generation.
  • Align medical affairs strategy with commercial goals, ensuring science drives adoption, retention, and retesting.

Leadership & Team Development (Coach Role)

  • Define and execute the long-term vision for the Company’s Medical Affairs function.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), clinical educators, and scientific writers.
  • Establish workflows and processes for provider report review, clinical education, and content production.
  • Serve as the clinical and scientific bridge that translates complex research and its clinical impact into clear, actionable insights for Sales, Marketing, Research, and Clinical Affairs, enabling cohesive strategy and execution.

Education & Medical Communications

  • Lead the development and publication of white papers, clinical briefs, slide libraries, and educational materials.
  • Organize and deliver provider webinars, conference presentations, and CE opportunities.
  • Partner with Marketing and Sales to ensure clinical accuracy and effective objection handling.
  • Support publication efforts in collaboration with research partners.


Qualifications


Required

  • Clinical credentials: MD, DO, PhD, NP, or PA with active (or recently active) U.S. license.
  • Experience: 5+ years in clinical practice, diagnostics, precision health, or Medical Affairs.
  • Proven ability to interpret diagnostic testing and contextualize results for patient care.
  • Strong leadership experience: team-building, mentoring, or leading medical/scientific staff.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment with cross-functional collaboration.

Preferred

  • Experience leading Medical Affairs or Clinical Education in diagnostics, biotech, life science, or functional medicine companies.
  • Familiarity with genetics, epigenetics, longevity science, and/or multi-omics diagnostics.
  • Prior experience in medical communications, publications, or provider training programs.
  • Track record of conference speaking, publication authorship, or KOL development.

Salary

$185,000 - $250,000 per year
