The Scenic Carpenter is responsible for building and assembling event and project elements that meet the highest standards of quality, craftsmanship, and design intent. This role supports the execution of creative concepts within defined budgets and timelines.
Work may include, but is not limited to, carpentry, metal fabrication, welding, wiring, painting, vinyl installation, and other hands-on production tasks. The Scenic Carpenter must operate all tools and equipment safely, following established procedures and wearing appropriate protective gear at all times.
Job Responsibilities:
- Fabricate and assemble wood, plastic, and metal structures with the ability to use all appropriate equipment and tools.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, construction plans, and design renderings accurately.
- Monitor job costing, quality reporting, forecasting, and productivity.
- Work closely with management each day to align on production goals and quality expectations, address any challenges that arise with people, materials, or methods, and share ideas to help the team reach project milestones efficiently.
- When rework is required, help the team learn from any mistakes and accurately record costs.
- Proactively seek solutions to special requests or issues related to work in a timely and professional manner.
- Observe strict safe work habits
- Develop strong working relationships with vendors, resources, and team members
- Travel to event sites for team support and fabrication installations as needed; represent the Company and its clients professionally and responsibly while in the field
- Demonstrate the highest standards of quality and adherence to company processes, procedures, and craftsmanship expectations.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience using all shop hand tools, drill/drivers, pneumatic staplers, table saws, chop saws, sanders, drill press; CNC router table experience preferred (not required)
- Welding and metal fabrication experience preferred (not required)
- Low-voltage light electrical/lighting knowledge
- Vinyl application experience preferred (not required)
- Painting experience, home and/or auto.
- Fine/finish carpentry
- Plexi welding preferred (not required)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, renderings, and build plans
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong time management skills
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; effective collaborator across departments.
