Job Title: Urgent Care Provider 

Department: Clinical 

Reports To:  Medical Director 

Supervises: Nurses and MAs 

   

Primary Job Responsibilities:  

  1. Provide comprehensive medical care to patients with urgent healthcare needs, including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of various medical conditions. 
  2. Conduct thorough medical assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and devise appropriate treatment plans. 
  3. Address medical emergencies promptly and effectively, demonstrating sound clinical judgment and decision-making skills. 
  4. Collaborate with the healthcare team, including nurses, physician assistants, and other specialists, to ensure seamless patient care. 
  5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, adhering to organizational protocols and regulatory guidelines. 
  6. Uphold the mission and values of THN, treating patients with compassion, empathy, and respect. 
  7. Educate patients and their families on medical conditions, treatment options, and preventive healthcare measures. 
  8. Participate in continuous medical education to stay updated with the latest medical advancements and best practices. 
  9. Support community outreach programs and health initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of the local population. 
  10. Demonstrate a commitment to serving patients from diverse backgrounds with cultural sensitivity and understanding. 
  11. Performs other related duties as required. 

 

Education: Medical degree from an accredited medical school. Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Hawaii. Board certification or eligibility in Urgent Care Medicine or a related specialty.  

 

Experience: Experience in urgent care settings, emergency medicine, or primary care is preferred.   

 

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: 

Knowledge

  1. Knowledge of common rural health issues and diseases prevalent in the area. 
  2. Proficient in clinical assessment, medication administration, and patient care coordination. 
  3. Understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance (HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid). 
  4. Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and computer proficiency. 

Skills & Abilities: 

  1. Clinical expertise in handling a wide range of medical conditions and emergencies. 
  2. Ability to diagnose and treat patients with limited resources and diagnostic tools. 
  3. Proficiency in triage to prioritize patients based on the severity of their condition 
  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients, colleagues and staff from diverse backgrounds. 
  5. Compassionate and patient-centered approach to healthcare, aligning with our Christian nonprofit organization's values. 
  6. Flexibility and adaptability to work in a resource-constrained environment. 
  7. Understanding of preventive healthcare measures to promote community well-being. 
  8. Capacity to work independently and make critical decisions in the absence of immediate specialist support. 
  9. Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple cases efficiently. 
  10. Familiarity with basic procedures and minor surgeries to handle cases in the absence of specialized facilities.

  12. Awareness of the unique challenges and barriers rural communities face in accessing healthcare. 
  13. Willingness to participate in community engagement and outreach activities. 
  14. Adaptability to stay updated with changing healthcare regulations and industry trends.    


Physical Requirements:   


Medical staff should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations efficiently. Medical staff may need to perform physically demanding tasks, such as assisting patients with mobility, transferring patients to examination tables, or helping with minor surgical procedures. This can involve prolonged standing, bending, and lifting. Medical staff in urgent care often encounter patients with acute illnesses, injuries, or emotional distress. Dealing with such situations can be emotionally challenging and may require empathy, compassion, and the ability to manage stress effectively.  


Work Environment:  


Medical office, well lighted, well ventilated. Involves frequent contact with staff and patients. May view computer screens for long periods of time. Occasional evening or weekend work. 


All staff are expected to keep their work areas clean and free of clutter, as well as maintaining the break room by cleaning up after themselves, and occasionally serving one another by cleaning surfaces, putting dishes away, etc.

 Position Wage and Benefits:  

This is a full-time salaried position. Pay depends on credentials with opportunity for growth based on merit and benchmarks with the company.

$166,400 - $176,800 per year
