Position Overview
Transafe is seeking safe, dependable, and caring school bus drivers to transport students to and from school in the Greater Boston area. This is a meaningful, community-based role for someone who enjoys driving, values punctuality, and wants to make a positive difference in the lives of children and families.
As a 7D School Bus Driver, you ensure students arrive at school and home safely, on time, and with care. Drivers are an essential part of our mission and play an important role in supporting students, families, schools, and the communities we serve. Training and 7D certification support is provided for qualified candidates who don’t hold a 7D certificate.

Key Responsibilities
Student Transportation & Safety
- Safely transport students to and from school using a company-provided 7D vehicle.
- Pick up and drop off students at assigned times and designated locations.
- Help students enter and exit the vehicle safely, including assisting with seat belts, car seats, or booster seats when needed.
- Maintain a calm, safe, and respectful environment for students during transport.
- Follow all company safety procedures and all federal, state, and local traffic laws.
Vehicle Inspections & Readiness
- Perform and document required daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Help keep the vehicle clean, orderly, and ready for daily use.
- Fuel the vehicle as needed and report maintenance or mechanical concerns promptly to the Fleet Coordinator.
- Help ensure the vehicle remains mechanically safe and presentable at all times.
Attendance, Communication & Documentation
- Accurately complete student attendance tracking and required work documentation each day via the Transafe App.
- Communicate professionally with parents, school staff, dispatch, and Transafe management as needed.
- Notify the appropriate team members of delays, route issues, student absences, or other service concerns in a timely manner.
- Follow assigned routes, schedules, and GPS directions accurately.
Reliability & Professionalism
- Report to work on time and maintain dependable attendance.
- Be available to work split shifts on school days, typically in the morning and afternoon.
- Represent Transafe professionally with students, families, schools, and the public.
- Support a positive, respectful, and mission-driven work environment.
Success Measures
Performance in this role is measured against the following, tied to the Company's Strategic Plan:
- Zero major safety / child-left-in-vehicle incidents
- 100% completion of daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- On-time pick-up and drop-off of students on assigned routes
- 100% accurate daily student attendance records
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must have held a valid driver's license for at least 3 years.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- 7D certification is not required to apply; Transafe will provide training and certification assistance for qualified candidates who don’t hold a 7D certificate.
- Must pass a background check, CORI, drug test, and any other pre-employment screening requirements.
- Must be comfortable using GPS tools such as Google Maps or Waze.
- Must be able to complete required inspection reports, attendance records, and timesheets accurately.
- Prior experience working with children, transportation, or school-related services is helpful but not required.

Hours
Part-time. Split shifts Monday through Friday on school days, typically during morning and afternoon school transportation windows. Exact hours vary based on assigned route.
