Trajectory of Hope (ToH) exists to create a more just and equitable society. We are a small, entrepreneurial team looking for someone who enjoys working in a flexible environment which encourages creativity, autonomy, collaboration, and excellence. The Research Associate is a dynamic, multi-part position and will support ToH in a variety of areas. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

Reporting to the Chief Operations Offices and working closely with other TOH leadership team members to support the mission, and vision of TOH, the essential responsibilities of the Research Associate include: 

PHILOSOPHICAL APPROACH 

• Believe in and enact an anti-racist, anti-bias, equitable, and critical approach in all research duties and activities.  
• Support the development of TOH research analysis that contributes to the dissemination of findings and effective practices to fulfilling TOH’s vision.  
• Take a whole person approach when working with people, emphasizing that people are multifaceted and unique, appreciating differences.  

RESEARCH  

• Conduct research and data analysis to meet the funder’s expectations and milestones.  
• Also includes necessary support work including but not limited to media preparation, supply ordering, etc.  
• Perform quality control reviews of statistical content, statistical tables, graphics, and text 
• Assist staff in the review, identification and development of scholarly information describing research findings 
• Participate in the collection, analysis, and review of research and evaluation data 
• Collaborate in a study team to analyze quantitative and/or qualitative research data and contribute to the reporting and interpretation of result 
• Provide new business and proposal development support by engaging in such tasks as researching funding opportunities, conducting literature reviews, writing proposal sections, etc. 

COLLABORATION WITHIN THE TOH COMMUNITY  

• Collaborate with the Trajectory of Hope leadership team to conduct research for an effective program 
• Assume leadership of program dissemination as appropriate  
• Other TOH duties as appropriate and assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS 

1. Required experience, skills & abilities: 

• 2+ years of prior research experience 
• Must possess superior analytical and creative thinking skills 
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to keep detailed, accurate records 
• Understanding of research procedures and protocols 
• Advanced organizational and planning skills 
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel programs 
• Exceptional written and verbal communicator  
• Ability to work in ambiguous, complex, and rapidly changing environments 
• Strong ability to multitask and prioritize  
• Ability to work independently as well as with a team  
• Evidence of using data to improve processes and outcomes 
• Motivated by TOH’s vision and mission 

2) Educational level: 

• M.A./M.S. Degree required in related fields of education, social science, statistics.  
• Ph.D./ Ed.D. degree (preferred) 

LOCATION 

The ideal candidate will be based in Southern California, or work remotely from the Bay Area, Central Valley, or Central Coast, with periodic visits to Los Angeles.
