Hardware Coffee Co. is a San Francisco-based coffee and hospitality company. We have cafe/retail locations in Ghirardelli Square (open) and West Portal (coming soon). We focus on providing elite-quality experiences and products... a very reliable, consistent experience... and being positive, engaged members of our community. In Ghirardelli Square, we are a small kiosk serving premium coffee, matcha, pastries and other refreshments in one of the world's most amazing atmospheres. In West Portal, we are opening a large, two-story, all-day cafe where coffee is the star of the show but we also do premium daytime food, beer and wine, events, and have a working expert florist. We sell our beans and retail merchandise online, in-store and at events.

Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Barista to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a love for coffee and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. As a Barista, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality beverages, maintaining a clean and inviting environment, and ensuring customer satisfaction through positive interactions and efficient service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and other beverages according to our established recipes and standards.
• Operate the Toast POS systems for order processing and payment transactions.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, including food preparation areas, equipment, and dining spaces.
• Provide elite customer service by engaging with customers, taking orders accurately, and addressing any inquiries or concerns.
• Embrace rigorous training on 3rd wave coffee standards and put those standards into practice at all times.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures.
• Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels of coffee beans, pastries, and other supplies.
• Collaborate with team members to create a positive work environment while meeting sales goals.
• Perform basic math calculations for cash handling and register operations.

Skills

• Previous barista experience or coffee industry knowledge is highly preferred.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse clientele.
• Proficiency in operating POS systems.
• Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during peak hours.
• Basic math skills for cash handling and retail math applications.
• Knowledge of food safety standards and practices related to food preparation and serving.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
