Summary: 

A 2-3 year, 4000 to 6000 hour apprenticeship in the wood flooring trade. You will be working with a Crew Leader to refinish, restore & install hardwood flooring in the Kansas City area. Training in all areas of the hardwood flooring trade will be provided. You will be required to complete both online and hands on training to show proficiency.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Engage in NWFA online university to complete courses.
  2. Engage in hands on training and testing as directed by Operations Manager.
  3. Work with Operations Manager and Crew Leaders to perform tasks as directed.
  4. Ensure assigned jobs are completed according to company standards.
  5. Exhibit a high-level of attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
  6. Operate power tools in a safe manner including but not limited to table saws, miter saws, table and hand planers, nailers and drills, and sanding equipment.
  7. Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times by sweeping, cleaning and removing trash as directed.
  8. Cautiously work with tools, equipment and materials at all times.
  9. Comply with company policies and procedures, giving special attention to safety regulations.
  10. Work effectively with others and take direction as necessary.
  11. Drive to specified sites to conduct appropriate work functions.
  12. Lift and carry tools to perform duties.

Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  
  2. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  3. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  4. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 175 pounds. 
  5. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. 


Education/Experience:

High-school diploma or the equivalent. 


Environmental Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.


The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Compensation:

90 day training and probationary period before first raise and official hire date.

90-day trial- $12/hr

Field Tech: $18-22 ( $2 raise at time promoted to crew leader)

$1.00 Possible raise a year…. $.50 after two reviews that meet standard
