Summary of Position

We are currently seeking to recruit three highly qualified Security Officers for a reputable adult charter school at two locations in Washington, DC. The ideal candidates will possess the necessary skills and experience to uphold the highest standards of safety and security within the school premises. Responsibilities will include ensuring the safety of students, staff, and visitors, monitoring CCTV systems, conducting regular patrols, responding to emergencies, and enforcing school policies and procedures. Candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to handle potentially stressful situations in a professional manner. A background in security or law enforcement is preferred, along with relevant certifications. Basic Security Duties

  • Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle and notate findings during these patrols.
  • Compose electronic security reports for daily activity, incidents, maintenance, and suspicious activities.
  • Politely inform violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles.
  • Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
  • Sound alarms or call police or fire/EMS in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Permit authorized individuals to enter property and monitor entrances and exits.
  • Assist clients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.


Training

All Officers are required to complete training at the commencement of employment and periodically throughout the year to maintain proficiency in their role as an officer and sharpen their skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Eligible to receive a Special Police Officer license or Security Officer License

Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience

Must have a high school diploma or GED

Candidate must be 21 years or older

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical requirements and working conditions outlined here exemplify what an employee must fulfill in order to effectively carry out the essential responsibilities of this position. This role entails working both indoors and outdoors, necessitating the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time. While on duty, employees may be exposed to various weather conditions and unfavorable weather. To mitigate these challenges, the company provides appropriate uniforms to shield against the elements.


In the performance of this job, the employee should expect to stand for prolonged periods (up to 4 hours at a time), and should have the ability to quickly climb multiple flights of stairs and lift weights ranging from 15 to 30 lbs.


This position requires shift work, typically consisting of 4 to 8 hours per day with a combination of day and evening shifts as required by the client site.
