Position Title: Marketing and Communications Manager

Position Overview
Tinworks Art is seeking a dynamic and creative Marketing and Communications Manager to join our team. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing, communications, and public relations initiatives that elevate Tinworks Art's visibility, engage audiences, and support fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate will be passionate about contemporary art, have strong storytelling skills, and possess experience in nonprofit marketing. The position is primarily full-time, although Tinworks Art is open to flexible schedules for experienced workers looking for a 0.75 work schedule or part-time work. The role may occasionally require weekends or holidays when Tinworks hosts public or private events.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy and Execution
- Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to promote Tinworks Art exhibitions, programs, and events.
- Manage the organization's digital presence, including website content updates, email marketing campaigns, and social media strategies.
- Create compelling content for newsletters, press releases, blogs, and other communications.
- Develop paid and organic marketing strategies to expand audience reach.
Communications and Branding
- Craft impactful storytelling strategies that effectively communicate the mission, vision, and impact of Tinworks Art.
- Maintain consistent branding across all materials, ensuring alignment with Tinworks Art's mission and values.
- Draft and distribute press releases, media kits, and promotional materials to local and national media outlets.
- Build and maintain relationships with media contacts and influencers.
- Serve as the primary contact for public inquiries regarding media, marketing, and promotional requests.
Community Engagement and Events
- Develop strategies to engage key community partners, donors, and sponsors.
- Coordinate promotional efforts for fundraising events, exhibition openings, and other public programs.
- Support the development and distribution of donor stewardship materials, including the Annual Report.
Data and Analytics
- Track and analyze marketing metrics to assess campaign effectiveness.
- Provide regular performance reports with recommendations for improving engagement.
- Manage the marketing budget and ensure cost-effective strategies.
Additional Duties
- Attend staff, team, committee, and board meetings as well as organizational trainings.
- Attend Tinworks fundraising events.
- Represent Tinworks at community gatherings and other outreach opportunities.
- Office and administrative tasks as necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in marketing/communications, preferably in a nonprofit or arts organization.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with attention to detail, grammar, and “institutional voice.”
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools, including social media platforms, email marketing software, and website management systems.
- Graphic design experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and WordPress preferred
- Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines.
- Passion for the arts and commitment to Tinworks Art's mission.
- Comfort with learning new technology, including emerging tools and platforms.
- Willing to take initiative and problem solve independently.
- Collaborative spirit while working within teams and across teams of the organization.
- High levels of discretion and sensitivity to the nuances and confidential nature of fundraising and donor communications.
