We seek an eager and flexible part-time Assistant Roaster to support the ever-growing demand for Tico coffee. The ideal candidate is passionate and dedicated and constantly strives to provide an authentic, superior coffee experience. Coffee is our craft, our ritual, our inspiration. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain positivity and enthusiasm at all times.
- Ensure that every bag of coffee is up to Tico’s quality standards.
- Have a clear knowledge of all roasting materials and equipment.
- Maintain and execute a full understanding of all safety, quality, and sanitation policies and procedures.
- Actively contribute to Supply Chain goals and vision.
- Profile roasting.
- Quality Assurance cuppings (as needed).
- Oversight of order fulfillment.
- Green inventory processing.
- Maintain a showroom-state roasting environment.
- Stay up to date on the current menu and blend compositions.
- Be an ambassador of coffee knowledge for Tico Coffee Roasters.
- Be a guardian of quality for all coffees offered by Tico Coffee Roasters.
Job Duties
- Responsible for the fulfillment of all coffee orders by accurately roasting the entire menu to profile.
- Expected to meet all quality control checkpoints at a 90% passing rate on all roast profiles.
- Use of logging software and ColorTrack to monitor real-time roasting feedback.
- Participation and facilitation of Quality Assurance cuppings and discussion as expected.
- Responsible for weekly cleaning and daily maintenance of all roasting equipment.
- Keep current green inventories stocked and prepped for roasting.
- After completing certification, use of forklift as needed to unload coffee shipments or retrieve coffee from racks.
- Responsible for weekly inventory counts of roasted coffee.
- Keep the roasting area as clean as possible at all times: floors swept, surfaces cleaned, dishes done, trash cans emptied, chaff and coffee bags taken out, etc.
Qualifications
- Previous Barista or coffee background a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Punctual and able to work the 6:00 a.m. shift and occasionally earlier or later shifts depending on business needs.
- Well-organized and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work well with a team.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
- Logical and methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to read, interpret, and comply with documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual.
- Flexible with the ability to multi-task in a demanding and sometimes stressful environment.
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback in any given situation.
- Ability to team-lift up to 150 pounds and lift 30 pounds above the head repeatedly throughout the day.
There is a 90 days trial period in which the applicant must demonstrate:
- Satisfactory internal orientation completion
- Understanding of the products and equipment offered to clients
- Effectively complete the assigned tasks in a timely manner
