The Role
We are seeking a Full Charge Bookkeeper who excels in managing the day-to-day accounting needs of small business clients. In addition to delivering accurate and timely financial information, you will be the client’s guide from sales handoff through onboarding and throughout the entire client life cycle. This critical role combines technical expertise with the ability to build strong client relationships, ensuring clients feel supported and engaged at every stage. Experience working with multiple clients in an accounting firm or bookkeeping service environment is required.
What You’ll Do
- Manage the daily bookkeeping functions for a portfolio of 20 to 30 small business clients, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients from sales handoff through onboarding and throughout the entire client journey, ensuring a smooth and consistent experience.
- Process payroll and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Handle month-end close procedures, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and deliver financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Collaborate with clients and internal CounselFi teams to provide seamless support and financial insights.
- Assist with client onboarding and set up efficient bookkeeping systems tailored to their needs.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and other relevant regulations.
About You
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in bookkeeping roles, preferably managing multiple clients in an accounting or bookkeeping firm.
- Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is required. Familiarity with payroll systems and other accounting tools is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple client engagements simultaneously.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: A proactive mindset with a knack for identifying inefficiencies and implementing solutions.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in the construction industry is a plus.
