Role Description

As a Professional Dog Groomer, you will provide premium bathing and grooming services for an array of dog breeds at our facilities. You will follow established protocols for health, hygiene, and facility cleanliness. The role includes greeting pet parents, providing updates on their dogs' grooming services, and maintaining a welcoming and professional environment.


This is a full-time, on-site position based in the New York City Area, requiring availability for a mix of weekday and weekend shifts.


Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, styling, and pet coat care tailored to each dog’s breed and individual needs
  • Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques and animal handling skills to ensure their comfort and safety during grooming procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of grooming tools, stations, and work areas in accordance with health standards
  • Communicate clearly with pet owners about grooming preferences, pet care instructions, and any health concerns observed during grooming
  • Assist with pet nail trimming, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, and other pet hygiene tasks as needed
  • Provide gentle animal restraint during grooming to minimize stress and ensure safety for both pets and staff
  • Support kennel duties or pet sitting responsibilities when required, including heavy lifting of animals or supplies


Requirements

  • Proven experience in pet grooming with a strong background in dog handling and animal care techniques
  • Book of past grooming work required
  • Satisfactory completion of a trial groom
  • Knowledge of veterinary procedures such as veterinary technician or assistant experience is a plus, especially related to animal health monitoring during grooming
  • Familiarity with pet coat styling, pet nail trimming, and animal restraint methods
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting of animals or equipment throughout the day
  • Experience with animal handling across various breeds and temperaments; comfort working with animals requiring special care or veterinary attention
  • Strong customer service orientation with a positive attitude toward client satisfaction
  • Additional skills such as dog training, veterinary experience, equine experience or kennel work are advantageous but not mandatory
