Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Audiovisual Design Consultant at the Senior Associate rank to join our technology team full-time in our Morrisville, NC office. In this position, you will leverage your expertise in AV systems to spearhead designs for diverse A/E/C projects acting as a primary client liaison, crafting effective technical solutions. While AV mastery is fundamental, this role is ideal for candidates who also bring proven design experience in complementary technology areas like lighting, security, or telecommunication. These skills represent the target profile for making a significant impact within our technology group.

Key Responsibilities:

• Client Leadership: Act as the primary client interface, building strong relationships, understanding their vision, and ensuring clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
• Design Development: Lead the creation of AV design criteria, system narratives, and functional requirements based on client programming and project scope.
• Technical Documentation: Develop comprehensive AV system design drawings and specifications, including floor plans, equipment layouts, riser diagrams, and detailed schematics.
• Construction Administration: Perform detailed reviews of contractor submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs to ensure alignment with design intent and technical specifications.
• Site Evaluation: Conduct thorough site surveys during design phases and perform construction progress inspections, effectively documenting findings and coordinating necessary actions.
• Project Support: Contribute to project proposals by accurately estimating design effort and assisting with scope definition.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of five years of progressive experience in audiovisual or technology design.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, technology, or a closely related field.
• AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist - Design (CTS-D) certification, or ability to obtain within 3 months.
• Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication, capable of conveying complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences (clients, technical staff, partners).
• Proven ability to work independently, manage priorities, and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• Solid understanding of project management principles and experience contributing to project success.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a related technology field of; lighting design, security, or telecommunication.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu for document review and markup.
• Experience developing specifications using CSI MasterFormat.
• BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification.

Location & Schedule:

• This full-time position is based in our Morrisville, NC office.
• Typical schedule is Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM and Friday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
