Thorburn Associates is a professional service firm providing acoustical consulting, technology system engineering, and lighting design for the corporate, educational, healthcare, civic, residential, and themed entertainment Industries. Thorburn Associates provides integrated collaborative designs for both new construction and renovations.

 

Job Summary:

We are looking for a full-time Business Development Associate to join us in our Morrisville, NC location. The position will be based out of our office, from your home or hybrid. To perform this job, you must be located in the Raleigh-Durham area to meet with potential clients and attend industry-focused events and activities.

 

As the first point of contact for the company, you will build relationships between our firm and prospective clients. You must be able to make a positive and professional first impression on prospective clients, provide information regarding the company’s services, make recommendations pertaining to such services, and foster and maintain relationships. You will work closely with the Business Development team to provide our clients with proposals and associated qualification materials. You will be responsible for managing your contacts and opportunities within the company’s CRM and maintaining a solid pipeline. 

 

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys networking and has a technical mindset. They must be self-motivated and possess strong time management skills.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Build long-term trusting relationships with prospects
  • Proactively seek business opportunities for the firm in support of the RDU office
  • Attending industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities
  • Prepare proposals and associated marketing materials for potential clients
  • Track development activities in CRM
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers, project managers, and clients

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Professional experience in the AEC industry is strongly preferred
  • Able to work independently and as a team member
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented, energetic with good communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office

Location and Hours:

Position available in the Morrisville, NC office, work from home in the Raleigh-Durham area, or hybrid. Typical office hours are Monday through Thursday 8:00am-5:30pm and Friday 8am-noon eastern. This position will require attendance at events outside regular business hours. To qualify for work from home employees must have a dedicated distraction free work environment and reliable high-speed internet.
