Job Summary:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Audiovisual Design Consultant at the rank of Associate to join our growing technology team full-time in our Morrisville, NC office. In this position, you will work closely with senior designers, learning the ropes of AV systems design for diverse Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (A/E/C) projects. You'll support the team in delivering effective technical solutions and gain exposure to various aspects of the design process. This is an excellent opportunity to build a foundation in AV design and potentially explore related technology fields like lighting, security, or telecommunications within our supportive technology group.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Development: Develop AV design criteria, system narratives, and functional requirements based on client needs and project scope, with oversight from senior designers.
  • Documentation: Create and modify AV system design drawings and specifications under supervision, including floor plans, equipment layouts, riser diagrams, and schematics. Learn to use relevant design software and tools.
  • Client Communications: Assist senior staff in documenting client requirements and support communication efforts throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Construction Administration: Under guidance, review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and Requests for Information (RFIs) to ensure they align with the design intent.
  • Site Evaluation: Accompany senior team members on site surveys during design phases and assist with construction progress inspections, helping to document findings.
  • General Project Assistance: Support the project team with various tasks as needed, contributing to project organization and learning about estimating design effort and scope definition.


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in audiovisual or technology design.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, technology, or a closely related field.
  • AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • A strong desire to learn about AV technology and design principles.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and convey technical information.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while understanding when to ask for help.
  • Eagerness to learn, ability to follow instructions, strong work ethic, and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Basic understanding of or demonstrated interest in learning project workflows and processes.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest or basic familiarity in related technology field of; lighting design, security systems, or telecommunications.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu for document review and markup.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit is a plus.

Location & Schedule:

  • This full-time position is based in our Morrisville, NC office.
  • Typical schedule is Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM and Friday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
