Purpose:
The person filling this position will assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive ministry of care, evangelism, spiritual growth, and service opportunities for children in the Older Hallway environment (Potty Trained–Pre-K) and their families. This role provides leadership, support, and oversight for volunteers, classroom environments, and ministry programming while helping execute the vision and strategy of Thompson Station Church's Preschool Ministry.
This position serves as a key partner to the Preschool Director, helping create safe, engaging, and spiritually enriching environments where children and families can connect with Christ and grow in their faith.
A professional approach and spiritual attitude are always expected.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree or theological education, complete or in progress, is preferred. Ministry experience as a staff member or volunteer is preferred. Childhood education experience also preferred.
He or she must be able to work in a team setting with other ministry professionals maintaining interpersonal and relational skills.

As a member of the staff and the congregation, it is expected this person will continue his or her professional and spiritual development through appropriate classes, bible studies, involvement in Thompson Station Church ministries, and other appropriate means.
Duties:
Principle Function: To assist in leading and guiding a comprehensive ministry to children in the Older Hallway (Potty Trained–Pre-K) through the recruitment, development, support, and care of volunteer leaders, children, and families.
Areas of responsibility include:
Sunday Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for all Older Hallway classrooms, including Potty Trained, Three-Year-Old, Four-Year-Old, and Pre-K environments.
- Serve as a visible and accessible leader on Sunday mornings, supporting volunteers, children, and families.
- Ensure classrooms are adequately staffed and supported to maintain safe and engaging ministry environments.
- Confirm volunteer layers of leadership and weekly assignments through Planning Center Online (PCO).
- Provide support to classroom leaders regarding classroom management, supplies, and ministry needs.
- Assist in maintaining appropriate child-to-leader ratios and adherence to safety and security procedures.
- Build relationships with children, volunteers, and families through consistent engagement and follow-up.
- Support volunteer leaders in fostering connections with families through birthday recognition, follow-up with absent children, and ongoing pastoral care efforts.
- Welcome and assist families, helping create a positive and hospitable ministry experience.
Midweek and Weekly Ministry Responsibilities
- Oversee Wednesday evening programming for Older Hallway ministry environments.
- Coordinate staffing and volunteer schedules for all Wednesday night programming through Planning Center Online.
- Partner with curriculum and ministry teams to plan crafts, activities, and learning experiences that support weekly teaching objectives.
- Ensure all classrooms are prepared and equipped for ministry activities throughout the week.
- Recruit, train, develop, encourage, and retain volunteer leaders for the Preschool Ministry.
- Regularly identify and cultivate future volunteer leaders and ministry team members.
- Provide ongoing coaching, encouragement, and support to volunteer teams.
- Assist with planning, promotion, and execution of Preschool Ministry events and church-wide family events.
- Participate in ministry planning meetings and collaborative projects with Next Gen staff.
- Attend and actively participate in all required staff meetings, chapels, trainings, and ministry meetings.
- Develop meaningful relationships with children and families, encouraging spiritual growth and connection to the church.
- Assist the Preschool Director with ministry initiatives, administrative projects, and strategic goals.
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Support and help execute the vision of Thompson Station Church and Preschool Ministry.
- Lead ministry operations and decision-making in the absence of the Preschool Director when needed.
- Model servant leadership and actively contribute to a healthy team culture.
- Assist in evaluating ministry effectiveness and identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Help maintain excellence in ministry environments, volunteer care, safety procedures, and guest experiences.
- Serve as a collaborative member of the Next Gen Ministry team and support the overall mission of the church.
Additional Information:
This is a part-time position (about 20 hours/week) reporting to the Preschool Director under the direction and oversight of the Lead Pastor and Executive Team. All employment with Thompson Station Church is for religious purposes.
