Barista I

Position Summary:

Barista I is an entry-level role focused on supporting the daily operations of The Yard Coffee through excellent customer service, clean workspace maintenance, and the preparation of select non-espresso beverages. This position is ideal for someone new to coffee service who wants to grow their skills in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cash Handling & Register Operation
• Accurately operate the cash register and handle transactions with attention to detail.
• Maintain a clean and organized register area.
• Beverage Preparation (Non-Espresso)
• Prepare and serve drip coffee, pour over coffee, loose leaf teas, lemonades, and Arnold Palmers.
• Perform back-of-house prep tasks including brewing coffee, batching matcha, and making iced teas and lemonade.
• Espresso equipment use is not permitted until further training and supervisor approval.
• Cleaning & Shop Maintenance
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the shop including dishwashing, bussing tables, and keeping the restroom clean.
• Keep the register, prep area, and customer seating tidy and sanitary.
• Customer Service & Communication
• Greet customers warmly and help create a welcoming atmosphere.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and guests.

Qualifications:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
• No prior barista experience required; training provided.
