Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Roofing Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our commercial roofing team. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience fabricating and installing architectural sheet metal and roofing components, understands commercial roofing systems, and can consistently produce clean, watertight installations.

This position requires working outdoors, at heights, and in an active construction environment. We are looking for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, works safely, is dependable, and can perform with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and install sheet metal roofing components.
  • Install coping, edge metal, fascia, gutters, downspouts, flashing, counterflashing, scuppers, collector boxes, and related components.
  • Perform accurate field measurements and transfer measurements for fabrication.
  • Cut, bend, notch, hem, seam, and form sheet metal.
  • Install metal roofing panels, trim, flashing, and associated components.
  • Properly seal joints, penetrations, terminations, and transitions to provide watertight installations.
  • Read and follow construction drawings, details, shop drawings, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Coordinate sheet metal installation with roofing crews and other trades.
  • Identify field conditions that may affect installation and communicate issues to the supervisor.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and an organized work area.
  • Follow company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
  • Complete work to company quality and productivity standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2–3 years of commercial roofing sheet metal experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with architectural sheet metal fabrication and installation.
  • Knowledge of commercial roofing systems, including TPO, PVC, EPDM, modified bitumen, and metal roofing preferred.
  • Ability to operate hand brakes, portable brakes, snips, shears, seamers, drills, rivet guns, grinders, and other sheet metal tools.
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic construction math.
  • Ability to read plans, shop drawings, and sheet metal details.
  • Knowledge of proper flashing, waterproofing, fastening, and sealant techniques.
  • Ability to work safely from ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, and roof areas.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights.
  • Ability to lift and carry approximately 50–75 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance required.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Aerial lift and forklift experience is a plus.
  • Must follow all company safety policies and jobsite requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience fabricating custom flashing and trim from field measurements.
  • Experience with standing-seam and other architectural metal roofing systems.
  • Experience operating sheet metal brakes and shears.
  • Ability to independently lay out, fabricate, and complete sheet metal details.
  • Experience troubleshooting roof leaks and flashing conditions.
  • Welding or soldering experience is a plus.
  • Foreman or crew-lead experience is a plus.
