The Executive Director (ED) serves as TOTA's chief staff officer and is responsible for managing all business operations while implementing the strategic directives of the Board of Directors. This is a high-impact leadership role at the heart of the OT profession in Texas — you will serve as the primary point of continuity for operations, member services, financial management, and external relationships.
Organizational Leadership
• Implement Board directives and lead strategic initiatives across the association
• Attend and support all Board, Executive Committee, and Annual Membership
meetings
• Prepare and present quarterly reports to the Board of Directors
• Advocate for the OT profession and TOTA members with external stakeholders
Operations & Administration
• Oversee all day-to-day TOTA business operations and staff supervision
• Manage the Association Management System (MemberClicks), member communications, and social media
• Produce the bi-weekly TOTA Tidbit newsletter and oversee the Revista publication
• Manage payroll, organizational subscriptions, and technology accounts
Financial Management
• Maintain fiscal operations within the Board-approved annual budget
• Process accounts receivable/payable; prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial
reports
• Coordinate with Treasurer, bookkeeper, and CPA; file Form 990 and applicable tax
forms
• Review and sign contracts on behalf of TOTA, Inc.
Events & Continuing Education
• Plan and oversee the Annual Conference — venue contracting, speakers, registration,
and on-site logistics
• Coordinate the bi-annual School-Based Practice Conference and TOTA-sponsored CE
events
• Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) for online CE delivery
External Relations & Advocacy
• Represent TOTA to AOTA, TBOTE, TOTF, TOTA-PAC, and other stakeholders
• Collaborate with TOTA's lobbyist and the Legislative Committee on advocacy efforts
• Coordinate the annual membership drive with the Membership Committee
Qualifications:
Required
• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a management or executive capacity
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated public relations
ability
• Proven ability to supervise staff and maintain administrative and fiscal integrity
• Strong data analysis and organizational decision-making skills
• Knowledge of the Texas state legislative process and relevant regulatory bodies
• Highly motivated self-starter who works independently and exercises sound judgment
Preferred
• OT or OTA credential, or substantive knowledge of the occupational therapy profession
• Experience with a nonprofit professional association or membership organization
• Familiarity with MemberClicks, QuickBooks Online, or similar platforms
$60,000 - $70,500 per year
