Job Summary:
The PRN Caregiver (Personal Attendant) provides non-medical personal assistance services to clients in their homes in accordance with the client’s Individual Service Plan (ISP), agency policies, and Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) regulations under 26 Texas Administrative Code Chapter 558. This position is scheduled on an as-needed basis and does not guarantee a set number of hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, ambulation, and transferring.
- Provide household support services such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, and grocery shopping.
- Offer medication reminders only (no medication administration).
- Monitor and report changes in the client’s condition to the supervisor.
- Accurately complete required documentation, including timesheets and service notes.
- Follow infection control, confidentiality, and client rights policies.
- Maintain reliable attendance and accept shifts based on availability and client needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 18 years of age.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Pass all HHSC-required background checks and employability verification.
- Demonstrate the ability to safely perform assigned duties.
- Current driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
PRN Employment Status:
This is a PRN (as-needed) position. Work hours are assigned based on agency staffing needs and client service requirements. Employees are not guaranteed a minimum number of hours and may accept or decline offered shifts consistent with agency policy.
