We're seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Communications Manager who is passionate about health equity and has a proven track record of building culturally responsive communications campaigns. The Senior Communications Manager will lead the development and execution of marketing and communication strategies that reach the diverse communities of California, including youth from historically unserved, underserved and inappropriately served communities. The ideal candidate for the Senior Communications Manager position will have exceptional marketing and communications skills, with an interest in public health initiatives and behavioral change communications.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Marketing Strategies: Create and execute comprehensive marketing campaigns with a focus on public health and equity. Ensure strategies align with organizational goals and community needs.
  • Lead Communication Initiatives: Coordinate and manage communication efforts across multiple platforms, including social media, websites, and print materials. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
  • Social Media Strategy: Managing strategy on social media content that resonates with diverse audiences. Utilize data-driven insights to refine and optimize campaigns for maximum impact.
  • Integrated Communication Services: Managing and overseeing Client projects across multiple channels, including paid media, earned media, social media, and community outreach.
  • Account Management: Communicate project updates with clients, prepare meeting documents, lead internal meetings, coordinate budget and billing needs, and work closely with other departments.
  • Community Engagement: Build relationships with community partners, influencers, and stakeholders to amplify campaign reach and effectiveness. Represent the organization at events, conferences, and community meetings as needed.
  • Monitor Campaign Performance: Track and analyze key metrics to evaluate campaign success. Provide regular reports and insights to senior leadership, offering recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with clients, vendors, team members, and partner organizations to ensure that all marketing and communication efforts are cohesive and on-brand.
  • Present Marketing Strategies: Develop and deliver presentations on marketing tactics and campaign outcomes to a variety of audiences, including clients, senior leadership, and community stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Spanish language skills preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing, with a focus on public health campaigns.
  • Demonstrated experience working with clients and with an equity lens, with a strong understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok) and social media management tools.
  • Preferred experience with the Asana project management system. 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Candidates located in the greater Sacramento or San Francisco Bay Area region are preferred with the ability to work remotely and attend in-person meetings as needed. The role requires residency in California. 


Position Details:

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week, salaried exempt position.
  • Fully-remote with occasional in-person meetings.
  • Some travel may be required for meetings and events.
  • Primarily standard business hours (Monday to Friday, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm), with flexibility for special events and conferences.


Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary range: $82,000 - $93,150 based on experience and qualifications. Up to a 15% cost of living adjustment increase is available for geographic regions outside of Sacramento.
