We are seeking an experienced Avionics Crew Chief to lead a team of 3–4 avionics technicians in the inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of aircraft avionics systems. This hands-on role requires a minimum of 5 years of direct experience with aircraft avionics. Responsibilities include overseeing installations, software updates, equipment configuration, and compliance with company and FAA regulations. The ideal candidate will also guide the fabrication and installation of sheet metal provisions, electrical harnesses, and wiring to support avionics systems, ensuring high standards of quality and safety.

Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of 3–4 avionics technicians.
  • Perform avionics inspections, diagnostics, software updates, and system repairs.
  • Remove and install instruments, harnesses, and equipment per approved documentation.
  • Fabricate and install sheet metal provisions and wiring to support avionics systems.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, STCs, and company quality standards.
  • Communicate with team leads and cross-functional departments for workflow coordination.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
  • Uphold safety standards and promote a culture of accountability.


Work Environment & Physical Expectations

  • Frequent standing, bending, stooping, and working in confined spaces or at heights above six feet.
  • Exposure to aircraft chemicals, loud noise, and extreme temperatures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet company insurance requirements.
  • Willingness to work scheduled shifts and occasional overtime.
  • Maintain a positive, professional demeanor in all interactions.


Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on avionics experience (Part 91, 135, and/or 145 experience a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of Garmin, Universal, Honeywell and other aircraft avionics-related systems.
  • Proficient with electrical testing tools, to include Pitot/Static machines, ADS-B, Transponder, and Nav/Com equipment and hand tools to include (wire strippers, crimpers, and soldering equipment),
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • A&P license a plus; FCC License or Repairman Certificate preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage technical staff.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
