The Pineapple Agency is looking for an experienced and skilled CAD Manager to lead our CAD design team in delivering innovative, precise, and practical designs for experiential marketing, festival staging, and scenic fabrication. As CAD Manager, you will oversee a team of CAD Designers, manage project schedules, and ensure that designs align with client visions, technical specifications, and production timelines. This role requires strong team management skills, expert-level CAD proficiency, and collaboration with internal stakeholders such as the Director of Fabrication Shop Operations, the Fabrication Shop Manager, and project leads. Additionally, you will participate in new business pitches, contributing design insights to win new projects.
What you’ll do:
Team Leadership and Management
● Lead, mentor, and develop a team of CAD Designers, fostering a collaborative and creative
work environment.
● Manage the day-to-day scheduling of design tasks, ensuring all team members are aligned
with project priorities and timelines.
● Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify training needs
to enhance team skills and productivity.
Project and Timeline Management
● Oversee the creation, review, and revision of 2D and 3D CAD drawings, shop drawings,
exploded views, and detailed renderings for each project.
● Manage timelines and coordinate closely with the fabrication and production teams to ensure
design milestones align with production needs.
● Track project status, providing updates to the Director of Fabrication Shop Operations and
the Fabrication Shop Manager to ensure seamless workflow and production readiness.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Alignment
● Partner with the Director of Fabrication Shop Operations and Fabrication Shop Manager to
optimize design-to-fabrication processes.
● Work with event planners, production managers, and creative directors to fully understand
design objectives and integrate technical solutions that enhance the creative vision.
● Engage with the sales and new business development team to support pitches by
contributing technical design insights, developing preliminary sketches, and discussing
feasible production timelines.
Quality Control and Design Standards
● Ensure that all design outputs meet company standards, align with safety regulations, and
are practical for fabrication and installation.
● Maintain consistency and quality across all designs, reviewing work for accuracy, feasibility,
and alignment with project requirements.
● Facilitate design reviews, internal presentations, and client meetings to gather feedback,
discuss modifications, and finalize approved designs.
Innovation and Industry Knowledge
● Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative materials relevant
to experiential, festival, and staging design.
● Implement new tools, techniques, and design standards that enhance the team’s capability
and efficiency.
● Drive creative solutions to overcome design challenges, proposing alternatives and practical
options that meet budgetary and technical constraints.
Documentation and Process Improvement
● Establish and maintain clear design documentation processes, including CAD standards, file
organization, and project archiving.
● Collaborate with leadership to continuously improve workflows, communication channels,
and efficiency in the design-to-fabrication lifecycle.
● Support the on-site implementation of designs, coordinating with fabrication teams and
troubleshooting issues as they arise during installation.
What you have:
● Experience: Minimum 6 years of CAD design experience with at least 2 years in a managerial
role. Experience in the festival, staging, or experiential industry is highly preferred.
● Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroVellum, or similar) with
advanced capability to create accurate, detailed drawings and renderings.
● Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience managing a team, setting schedules, and
meeting project deadlines.
● Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to
collaborate effectively across departments.
● Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail in design accuracy and quality control.
● Problem Solving: Proven ability to develop innovative solutions for technical and design
challenges.
● Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing previous work in scenic, experiential, or festival design is
strongly preferred.
Work Environment
This position will be expected to be available and commute to the North Las Vegas warehouse, Monday through Thursday for four 10-hour shifts. This position may be expected to work evenings, holidays, and weekends if needed.
As a note - this position may encounter situations in which the ability to freely access all points of a fabrication shop in wide-ranging temperatures, physical and audible conditions, and environments is required. Additionally, this role will be expected to be willing and able to work in a physically demanding environment, including operating heavy machinery, lifting objects ~50lbs+, light carpentry and fabrication work, and metalwork. This includes complying with Company and OSHA standard
