Purpose of the Position

The Spiritual Formation Pastor provides strategic leadership for discipleship ministries including Life Groups, one-on-one discipleship, prayer ministry, men's and women's ministry, senior adults, and Next Gen ministries (PreK, Kids, Students, and College). This role develops and implements comprehensive discipleship strategies for the Waynesville Campus that equip believers to grow in their faith and fulfill the Great Commission. The Spiritual Formation Pastor serves on the Pastoral Lead Team and ensures alignment of discipleship programming with the church's vision and mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the ministry team leader for discipleship ministries through building, motivating, and leading staff and volunteers in accordance with The Orchard Church’s core values, mission, priorities, and vision.
  • Oversee deacon ministry and member care with association to Life Groups.
  • Provide leadership in adult discipleship through oversight of Life Groups (On-Campus and Community) through managing and supporting programs, recruiting and training teachers and leaders.
  • Develop leadership development training for current Life Groups, men’s ministry,, and women’s ministry to raise up future leaders.
  • Provide leadership to the one-on-one discipleship program through identifying and recruiting disciple makers and disciples, providing support to both parties.
  • Provide leadership, development, and oversight for Next Gen ministries and staff through supervision, coaching, support, and professional development.
  • Develop  family discipleship initiatives that encourage parents in the spiritual development of their children and students and unites the full Next Gen ministries.
  • Provide resources, direction, and facilitation for new believers through discipleship pairings and classes.
  • Serve as the ministerial director for prayer ministry through recruitment and organization of prayer services and prayer groups under the leadership and direction of the Executive Team..
  • Provide strategic oversight for Men's, Women's, and Senior Adult’s ministries  initiatives equipping and developing lay leaders of those ministries.
  • Manage, develop, and maintain annual operational budgets for Discipleship and NextGen ministry groups.
  • Develop lay-leaders to help manage responsibilities of major ministries in alignment with Ephesians 4:11-12, equipping the saints.
  • Collaborate with the Connections Director to ensure effective and efficient assimilation for new members and guests.
  • Provide pastoral leadership and spiritual care through prayer, counseling, discipleship conversations, member care, weddings, funerals, and hospital visitation as needed.
  • Serve as a member of the Pastoral Lead Team, contributing to church-wide strategy and coordination.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Recruit church members and guests to participate in discipleship ministries, Life Groups, and Next Generation ministry programs
  • Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer and meditation
  • Maintain proper priorities in your home and be a spiritual leader to your spouse and children, if applicable
  • Be actively involved in the making of disciples
  • Plan specific ministry activities and programs designed to reach all generations in support of the church's objectives
  • Assess effectiveness of ministry activities and programs on an ongoing basis and make changes as needed.
  • Maintain wise stewardship of all God's resources
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Team

Qualifications

  • Ordained Minister/Pastor
  • Evidence of moral character and a lifestyle consistent with The Orchard Church's Constitution, Bylaws, and Statement of Faith
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in church ministerial environment, with preferred ministerial degree and substantiated resume of successful leadership positions
