The Discipleship Coordinator serves as a vital liaison between multiple discipleship ministry groups, providing administrative support and coordination services to ensure seamless ministry operations and effective spiritual growth opportunities. This position specifically supports the Discipleship Pastor, Life Groups, Women's Ministry, Men's Ministry, Senior Adults Ministry, Member Care, Prayer Ministry, and 1:1 Discipleship programs. This role combines ministry coordination responsibilities with administrative excellence to support the church's mission of making disciples and fostering spiritual growth throughout the congregation. This position offers an excellent opportunity to serve in a meaningful ministry role while utilizing administrative and coordination skills to support multiple aspects of church discipleship ministries. For female candidates, there is potential opportunity to lead the Women's Ministry in addition to coordination responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Coordination

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Discipleship Pastor
  • Coordinate schedules, meetings, and communications across multiple discipleship ministry groups
  • Maintain accurate records and databases for all supported ministries
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and ministry-related documentation
  • Manage ministry calendars and coordinate cross-group activities

Ministry Support Services

  • Life Groups: Assist with group formation, leader coordination, curriculum support, and group health monitoring
  • Women's Ministry: Coordinate events, Bible studies, and outreach programs (with potential leadership role for qualified female candidates)
  • Men's Ministry: Support men's events, discipleship programs, and accountability group coordination
  • Senior Adults Ministry: Assist with programming, communication, and pastoral care coordination for senior members
  • Member Care: Support care team coordination, follow-up communications, and care need identification
  • Prayer Ministry: Coordinate prayer requests, prayer team scheduling, and prayer event organization
  • 1:1 Discipleship: Match mentors with mentees, coordinate training, and track discipleship relationships

Discipleship Coordination Functions

  • Track and coordinate spiritual growth needs across all supported ministries
  • Facilitate communication between ministry leaders and discipleship pastoral staff
  • Assist in identifying discipleship gaps and growth opportunities
  • Support discipleship event coordination and resource distribution
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive spiritual matters with discretion

Communication and Collaboration

  • Serve as primary point of contact between supported discipleship ministries
  • Coordinate inter-ministry projects and discipleship initiatives
  • Facilitate effective communication flow between groups
  • Participate in discipleship team meetings and planning sessions
  • Prepare ministry updates and progress reports

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Recruit and equip church members and guests to volunteer for discipleship ministry work
  • Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer and meditation
  • Maintain proper priorities in your home
  • Be actively involved in the making of disciples
  • Maintain wise stewardship of all God's resources that He has given you
  • Other duties as assigned by the Discipleship Pastor and Executive Team

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of administrative experience, preferably in a church or nonprofit setting. Experience with ministry coordination or discipleship support preferred.

Knowledge/Understanding

  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and church management software
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff, community, and ministry participants
  • Listening skills with the ability to interpret and respond to personal and spiritual situations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and ministry events
  • Ability to use MS Office, internet, email, and social media resources
  • Experience with digital platforms and communication tools relevant to discipleship ministry

Working Conditions

  • Part-time position with flexible hours plus occasional evenings/weekends for ministry events

  • May require lifting up to 25 pounds for event setup and ministry materials

Reporting Structure

  • Reports directly to Discipleship Pastor
  • Works closely with ministry leaders across discipleship areas
  • Coordinates with pastoral staff and volunteer ministry leaders
