Department: Climate and Energy
Schedule: Flexible hybrid, minimum 3 days in-office per week
Reports to: Director of Climate and Energy and Director of Government Affairs
The Niskanen Center
Named “the most interesting think tank in American politics” by Time magazine in March 2023, the Niskanen Center promotes policies that advance prosperity, opportunity, and human flourishing, guided by the belief that a free market and an effective government are mutually dependent.
We are forging a new vision of American governance that draws on ideas from across the ideological spectrum, an approach made possible by our independence from rigid political coalitions. Our ideological openness gives us credibility to work with a broad range of actors, meeting them on their own terms and helping them converge on policies they might support for different reasons.
The Position
The Niskanen Center seeks a government affairs professional to lead outreach for our growing team. To support this work, the government affairs manager collaborates with our policy and communication staff to advance and promote the team’s research and policy proposals with Congress, the Administration and Executive Branch Agencies, key stakeholders, and coalitional allies. Applicants should have experience working across ideological lines and enthusiasm for advancing an economy that fosters innovation, supports growth, maintains energy resilience, and addresses climate challenges through pragmatic, market-driven solutions. The position reports to the Director of Climate and Energy and to the Director of Government Affairs as a member of the Government Affairs Team.
