JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies efficiently while utilizing The Kingsley Association swimming pool.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Perform lifeguard duties to prevent aquatic emergencies from chair and deck at all times.
· Record all incidents in pool area and locker rooms and report to supervisor.
· Monitor proper us of aquatic equipment such as floatation devices, kickboards, starting blocks, lane markers, etc.
· Ensure all swimmers have proper attire before entering pool.
· Evaluate aquatic abilities of swimmers before permitting them access to deep end of pool.
· Know all emergency procedures and respond to emergencies immediately, in accordance with The Kingsley Association’s policies and procedures.
· Administer First Aid, CPR, AED and necessary.
· Communicate with and maintain an effective relationship with members, participants and other staff.
· Maintain maintenance and cleaning of all pool facility including pool deck, locker rooms, recreation office, etc.
· Record and keep accurate records of all pool chemical readings and take appropriate action as needed.
· Conduct and record daily safety checks and report any unsafe conditions to supervisor.
· Secure all doors when pool is closed or as appropriate in case of incident or emergency.
· Attend staff meetings, trainings and conferences.
· Maintain records, reports and log information.
· Report for shift in a timely manner. Notify Head Lifeguard immediately in unable to cover shift.
· Ability to work flexible hours with some holiday and weekend work required.
· Ability to participate in all phases of the Aquatics program for all participants.
· Perform all duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
· Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. as required. May require more in event of a water rescue.
· Ability to perform moderate physical activity that may including sitting, standing, walking, crouching, kneeling, bending, twisting and reaching for extended periods of times.
· Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks necessary for a water rescue.
· Appropriate pool attire must be worn at all times when on duty in the aquatics area.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS:
· Lifeguard Certification
· CPR and AED Certification
· First Aid Certification
· Current Act 33/34 and FBI clearances

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Natatorium; employee may be exposed to conditions that include hot / cold temperatures, chemicals, etc.

· Frequently required to work at a fast pace

$13 - $15 per hour
