Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead Overall Site Operations
- Serve as the primary escalation point for field decisions
- Provide direction and resolution for complex challenges
- Ensure alignment with project goals and contract requirements
- Maintain accountability for all on-site outcomes
- Establish site setup, access, and initial logistics during mobilization.
- Coordinate daily field activities across all trades.
- Maintain site organization, cleanliness, and operational efficiency.
- Drive project progress through all phases to final completion.
- Detect discrepancies between drawings and actual conditions.
- Collaborate with project team to clarify intent.
- Propose practical field solutions when appropriate.
- Document and communicate issues through proper channels.
- Analyze construction drawings for scope and details.
- Interpret specifications to ensure compliance.
- Review RFIs and incorporate responses into field execution.
- Implement change directives accurately in the field. Monitor labor productivity and crew performance.
- Maintain daily reports on progress and manpower.
- Identify trends and address inefficiencies.
- Ensure adequate staffing to meet schedule demands.
2. Schedule Management
- Create weekly and 2–6-week lookahead schedules.
- Coordinate with project manager to generate overall project scheudule.
- Align subcontractors with upcoming work activities.
- Identify constraints and remove roadblocks proactively.
- Monitor adherence and adjust plans as conditions change.
- Coordinate with project manager on needed adjustments.
3. Workflow Optimization
- Coordinate trade stacking and work handoffs.
- Ensure proper sequencing to avoid rework and congestion.
- Balance manpower across trades to maintain flow.
- Continuously evaluate and improve field productivity. Monitor labor productivity and crew performance.
- Maintain daily reports on progress and manpower.
- Identify trends and address inefficiencies.
- Ensure adequate staffing to meet schedule demands.
- Lead daily safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Coordinate with the Safety and Compliance Manager on safety violation corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Identify and correct unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Promote accountability and proactive safety engagement.
4. Project Close-Out Management
- Develop and manage punch list tracking systems.
- Coordinate subcontractor completion of outstanding items.
- Verify quality and completeness of work.
- Prepare project for final inspection and owner turnover.
- Conduct pre-close-out walk-throughs with owner for quality assurance.
5. Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise assistant superintendents, assistant field engineers, and tradesmen.
- Schedule ongoing meetings with direct reports.
- Responsible for annual performance reviews.
- Recommend hire, termination, and disciplinary actions to the Senior Superintendent.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management, engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 5–10 years of construction experience, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
- Proven ability to manage field operations, subcontractors, and multiple trades on active job sites.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and building systems (structural, MEP, finishes, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience with project scheduling, including short-term lookaheads and coordination with master schedules.
- Thorough understanding of construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, and change management processes.
- Working knowledge of local building codes, inspections, and regulatory requirements
- Strong commitment to job site safety, with knowledge of OSHA standards and safety best practices.
- Ability to identify and resolve field issues quickly and effectively.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to direct teams and coordinate with project managers, engineers, and owners.
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Red Team, or similar tools).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred.
