Purpose of the Role:

At The Hand & The Eye (TH&TE), the Doorman is the guardian of first impressions - the first point of contact and the final farewell. This role goes far beyond opening doors, it is about opening moments that feel grounded, gracious, and quietly extraordinary.

Every interaction should evoke our pillars of Discovery, Craft, Connection, and Wonder. Whether welcoming a familiar member or introducing a first-time guest, the Doorman sets the emotional tone - calm, confident, and intentional.

This is a highly visible role that demands both presence and subtlety. The Doorman must read the rhythm of the arrival, balancing the pace of service with the energy of the environment, ensuring that every transition feels effortless and every guest feels seen.

Key Outcomes:

• Anticipate arrivals by name, timing, and context aligning with Guest Relations to ensure seamless entry.
• Greet guests and members with warmth, recognizing return visitors and noting first-time arrivals.
• Maintain exterior staging, lighting, and ambiance to reflect the tone of the evening.
• Coordinate valet timing and curbside pacing to prevent bottlenecks and ensure graceful flow.
• Serve as the primary communication link between exterior operations (Valet, Security) and interior teams (Host, F&B, Programming).
• Alert team members to key guest arrivals, member milestones, or special moments in real time.
• Support crowd management discreetly, maintaining a sense of calm and exclusivity even during peak hours.
• Embody TH&TE brand pillars in every interaction, projecting refinement without pretension.
• Uphold visual standards through posture, uniform presentation, and environment maintenance.
• Create subtle moments of delight - offering assistance, remembering small details, or providing thoughtful gestures that elevate the everyday.

Qualifications & Experience:

• 1-3+ years in hospitality, luxury environments, private clubs, or experiential brands
• Exceptional interpersonal awareness and emotional intelligence
• Strong communication and situational awareness under dynamic conditions
• Poise and presence that reflect TH&TE aesthetic and sensibility
• Collaborative mindset with proactive communication habits

Guest and Member Relations, Security, Valet, Programming, F&B

Reference Requirement:

2+ references who can speak to integrity, emotional intelligence, creativity, and operational reliability

Role Complexity & Scope:

The Doorman role combines operational command, emotional intelligence, and sensory awareness. It requires the ability to orchestrate movement and perception simultaneously coordinating valet, guest entry, and flow management, all while embodying the brand’s hospitality ethos.
