Hybrid or Telehealth-Based | Part time or Contract Position


About The Grief Center

The Grief Center provides compassionate, healing-centered mental health care for individuals, couples, and families navigating grief, trauma, and life transitions. Our work is rooted in clinical excellence, cultural responsiveness, and deep respect for the lived experiences of the communities we serve.

We support clients facing death loss, traumatic loss, family disruption, identity shifts, caregiver stress, anxiety, depression, and other major emotional transitions. We are growing and seeking a therapist who is committed to meaningful work, values connection and dignity in the healing process, and is comfortable serving diverse clients with compassion and care.

Position Summary

The Grief Center is seeking a licensed mental health therapist to join our growing practice in a contract role. This position offers flexibility with telehealth and hybrid opportunities based on client and practice needs.

The ideal candidate is passionate about grief-informed and trauma-informed care, comfortable working with diverse populations, and able to provide therapy that is clinically grounded, relational, and culturally responsive. Therapists who are able to work with sensitivity around spirituality, faith, and meaning-making in the healing process are especially encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, family, and/or group therapy services via telehealth and, when applicable, in person
  • Maintain a caseload of approximately 8–20 client sessions per week
  • Complete documentation, treatment plans, and progress notes in a timely and accurate manner
  • Collaborate with other clinicians, referral partners, and community resources as needed
  • Participate in consultation, training, and professional development opportunities as available
  • Provide ethical, compassionate, and clinically appropriate care aligned with the mission of The Grief Center

Required Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Tennessee licensure as an LPC-MHSP, LCSW, or LMFT(may consider Temp license)
  • Experience working with grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, and life transitions
  • Ability to provide telehealth services; in-person availability is a plus for hybrid work
  • Current professional liability insurance
  • Strong organizational, communication, and technology skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse clients, family systems, and presenting concerns

Preferred Experience

Experience or training in one or more of the following is strongly valued:


  • Grief counseling
  • Brainspotting
  • EMDR
  • CBT
  • TF-CBT
  • DBT
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

We especially value clinicians who:


  • Provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed care
  • Understand how grief is shaped by identity, family systems, trauma history, and community context
  • Can work respectfully with clients who draw on faith, spirituality, or personal values as part of their healing
  • Have experience supporting clients impacted by death loss, traumatic loss, ambiguous loss, or caregiver stress

Compensation & Support

  • $45–$70 per hour, depending on experience and caseload
