Position Summary 

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Assistant General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily retail operations of our dispensary, managing and developing staff, ensuring compliance with all state and local regulations, and driving a culture of performance and accountability. This role is hands-on and requires a strong presence on the floor, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative spirit. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Operations & Compliance 

  • Supervise all day-to-day dispensary functions, including customer service, inventory management, cash handling, and compliance. 
  • Maintain and secure recordkeeping systems and ensure readiness for audits or inspections. 
  • Oversee and participate in all opening and closing procedures. 
  • Coordinate deliveries, product recalls, and supply ordering. 

Leadership & Team Development 

  • Support the General Manager in hiring, onboarding, and training staff. 
  • Coach and mentor team members; conduct performance reviews, give constructive feedback, and support professional development. 
  • Help implement and monitor staff schedules and labor needs. 
  • Recommend pay adjustments, incentives, promotions, and disciplinary actions as needed. 

Sales & Customer Experience 

  • Lead the team in delivering best-in-class customer service and product education. 
  • Monitor sales trends and work with GM to implement sales strategies and marketing initiatives. 
  • Assist in educating customers about product benefits, dosing, and proper usage. 
  • Handle escalated customer concerns with professionalism and empathy. 

Inventory & Cash Management 

  • Perform daily cash reconciliation and product audits; ensure accuracy in tracking and reporting. 
  • Train staff on compliance with cannabis inventory platforms and POS systems. 
  • Provide inventory and sales feedback to the GM to support purchasing decisions. 

Facility Oversight 

  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards throughout the dispensary. 
  • Oversee third-party contractors such as janitorial, security, and maintenance providers.

Required Qualifications 

  • Minimum 2 years of retail management experience 
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams and maintain high-performance standards. 
  • Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling procedures, and retail inventory tracking. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook. 
  •

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements 

  • Must be able to work varied hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and events. 
  • Role may require prolonged standing, sitting, bending, and occasional lifting. 
  • Frequent interaction with staff, vendors, and regulators. 
  • Must be eligible for or hold a valid Nevada Cannabis Agent Card (or obtain one upon hire).
