Description

🐾 Now Hiring: Part-Time Pet Sitter

Compassionate Care. Community. Connection.

Do you light up around animals? Are you the kind of person who notices the subtle things—a cat’s twitchy tail, a dog’s shifting mood, a quiet meow from another room? We’re looking for folks just like you to join our Compassionate Care Pet Sitting team.

At The Empowered Companion, we believe pet sitting is so much more than a job—it’s a way of showing up with presence, love, and respect for animals and the humans who love them. Whether it's a senior dog who needs help up the stairs or a shy cat who slowly learns to trust you, every visit matters. Every moment counts.

This is a W2 employee position, not a contractor role. You’ll be part of a collaborative team, with training, guidance, and opportunities for growth.

🌱 Getting Started

Everyone who joins us begins as a Level 1 Pet Sitter. From there, you can grow into new levels of responsibility and care, and possibly into a Pet Sitter Trainer role, depending on your goals and how long you stay with us. We’re in this for the long haul, and we’d love to build that kind of relationship with you, too.

🐕 What You'll Be Doing

Every day looks a little different, but some of the core things you’ll do include:

  • Providing care in client homes: feeding, walks, litter scooping, poop pick up, playtime, medication, and lots of love
  • Communicating with pet parents and teammates through our digital app
  • Honoring each animal’s individual personality and needs—especially our senior and sensitive pets
  • Working holidays, evenings, and weekends (yes, this is when our clients need us most)

Sometimes you’ll be lifting a dog, wiping muddy paws, cleaning up after an upset stomach, or crawling under a bed to coax a cat out. Sometimes you’ll just sit quietly beside someone as they nap in the sun. It’s beautiful work—and it can be hard, too. But for the right person, it’s incredibly rewarding.

🧰 What You’ll Need

We don’t expect you to know everything—training is provided! But here’s what makes someone a great fit:

  • Experience with animals (personal, volunteer, or professional)
  • A strong sense of reliability and attention to detail
  • Comfort working independently and managing your own time
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and walk 30+ minute
  • A dependable vehicle and a smartphone
  • Confidence using digital tools—we work almost entirely through our digital scheduling and communication platform, and we use Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, etc.) to stay organized as a team
  • Clear, compassionate communication skills (with both humans and animals)
  • A kind and patient spirit with a willingness to grow

Extra points if you have pet first aid & CPR training, vet tech experience, or animal reiki knowledge—but these are not required to start. Must be a high school graduate and 18 years or older.

📆 Schedule + Availability

This is a part-time role, and we’re looking for two new team members who are available during:

  • One of these two schedules:
  • Minimum availability of two evenings per week (5pm-9:30/10pm) and two Weekends per month (including evenings)
  • Minimum availability of Morning & Middays on Fridays, plus one other day per week (a 2-5 hour shift between 7am and 3pm)  and two Weekends per month (including evenings)

All new team members must be available for the following:

  • At least two of these three upcoming holiday windows:
  • Memorial Day Weekend - 05/24/2025-05/26/2025
  • 4th of July - 07/04/2025-07/06/2025
  • Labor Day Weekend - 08/30/2025-09/01/2025
  • Christmas Eve evening (5pm-10pm) & Christmas morning (7am-12pm) in 2025 (2026 negotiable)
  • New Years Eve evening (5p-10pm) & New Years Day morning (7am-12pm) in 2025 (2026 negotiable)
  • At least two weekends per month - including evening shifts

Scheduling is based on client needs, particularly for our vacation pet sitting clients. Your work may range from 0-15 hours per week depending on time of year and client demand. This role is best for those looking for supplemental income, as scheduling will not be consistent week over week

💵 Pay & Perks

  • $18.81/hr base pay
  • 100% of tips + mileage reimbursement between pet sitting visits
  • Average gross monthly earnings range: $400–$1000, depending on availability and client needs
  • Ongoing training & mentorship
  • Opportunity to grow into advanced pet care levels and training roles over time
  • The joy of making real connections—with animals, families, and a team that cares

🧡 Our Promise to You

We offer real support—team leads to help answer your questions and provide guidance, a collaborative team culture, and continued education so you feel prepared, seen, and valued. This role is ideal for someone who’s looking to stay a while and grow with us. (Our best team members tend to be those who stick around longer than 6 months and fall in love with the work. Advancement opportunities are available after 4 months of reliable employment.)

🗺️ Service Area

Our pet sitting visits take place in various South Metro Denver neighborhoods, including Englewood, Cherry Hills, and Sheridan. You must be comfortable driving to client homes to deliver care in all types of weather conditions. Our service area and pay structure do not support public transportation, biking, or walking to client homes.
